Anyone in the First Week of Their Unpteenth Quit?

Lizann, Oh my goodness! That is so true about their life and now I'm crying again. But that's okay because the more I do now the less I'll do later. That's just the way I roll. Give little Lucy a hug for me.

I'm so glad you are doing well too. No matter what we come up against, if we come here we will get through it together.

Anyone in the First Week of Their Unpteenth Quit?

:new:Hi. I tried to post earlier but am not seeing it, so excuse if this is a double up. I've quit a bunch of times and in the last few years have actually had some success at some weeks at a time. I really enjoy those times and always wonder what the hell made me go back and think I could moderate. I love reading these posts and this feels like it could be great for me to check in daily and to share so that this time maybe this can be my forever time. I like the idea of AF Forever. My friend turned me onto this post and I'm so glad she did. So hello from Bainbridge Island, WA where there is beauty all around and the sun is shining. Day 2 AF and feeling pretty good.

Welcome Nurse, You've come to the right place. The trick to this being the last quit is a commitment to coming and staying in touch AND giving up on the idea of moderation. If you are here you are probably like the rest of us. Once we start, we escalate and eventually end up in that self-loathing mode. I'm so done with that stuff. Life is challenging enough without having this beast hanging around my neck! So stay close. If you haven't yet, visit the toolbox in the link below and make a plan. What are you going to do when everyone else is having a glass of vino or beer or whatever? What are you going to do when you go on your first vacation alcohol free? This isn't to worry you but to encourage you to have a plan in place for triggers. This Saturday will be 90 days AF for me and I couldn't have done it without MWO and the support I found here. Oh and sparkling water!

Ja! We are neighbors. I live in south central WA. Hovering around 100 degrees today. I'm glad I have work to do inside!

          Stay close you two!

Anyone in the First Week of Their Unpteenth Quit?

Good Morning! Waking up groggy but happy to be sober! Thanks for the advice about making plans for those times where the triggers occur. I have some coming up. I used to stop after times when drinking helped me get through, this time I want to sail it with out. My daughters coming next week and we aren't getting along so well, however she is bringing my 8 year old love of my life grandson and I'll get him for 3 days after she and her husband leave. I figure if I tell them we can't have beer around right now, they'll leave even quicker! So this could work for me. Starting Day 3 AF and feeling strong.

Ja, Good for you! Keep adding those days! Saturday will be 90 for me and I simply can't believe it. We travel at least once a month to some place or another and learning to navigate those evening happy hours was pretty rough but I've gotten through 6 trips now and my resolve is stronger than ever; thanks to this site and the connections I've made here. SoberSoul started this thread. She also has a blog. Here is the link if you want to check it out. She's just full of wisdom! Granny Gets Sober.

Great Job Ja!!! Keep it going. Don't let anyone or anything make you drink. You are totally in control of what you put in your mouth. Make a vow to yourself that you simply will not drink....no matter what....NO MATTER WHAT! You will see the days add up and you'll feel better everyday. Keep reading and posting with us. We love watching eachother make progress.

I hate this midlife crap. I thought I had it together but now I'm reevaluating everything. What have I done with my life so far? Still I have people looking to me for answers and how can I not? Younger people and I get to go home by myself and .... grrrrr.

Glad everyone is doing so well. Been watching TED videos and feel better for it. Learning something new invigorates me.

Tomorrow I'll go back to Qi Gong and Zen. No musturbation, no awfulizing. Maybe the geek gets the girl.

Been evaluating my behavior over the last month. Think as much as I'd love to make my studio a sacred space there is a degree of embarrassment to invite anyone to my 400 sq ft. With 2 people I'd love to have here.

Had a drinking dream last night. I haven't had one of those in ages. I dreamt I was drinking and I was on the outside watching myself. One part of me was liking it (The Beast) but the other part of me was very upset because I was drinking but I could do nothing to stop it. I felt helpless. It was very intense. I was so glad near the end of the dream I realized it was a dream and started to wake up. I was SO relieved!

                              Anyone else ever have those?

                              Ginger....Congrats on 90 days!!!!

                              Orimus....you okay?

                              Ja.....how about you?

                              Liz.....how was the wedding?

Don, I haven't had one yet but it sounds like it's just a matter of time. I read other threads where people talk about it happening and how relieved they are that it's a dream when they wake up. I don't remember how many AF days you have. Can you share again with us?
