                  Dinner Time!

I am about to put some portabello mushrooms on the grill. I brushed them with olive oil and stuffed the cavity with fresh rosemary, oregano and basil from the herb garden. Grilled some ciabatta (sp?) bread brushed with melted butter and plan on putting together some wonderful sandwiches with fresh tomato to enjoy outdoors by the pool. I love summer....

Oh -- and a salad with Italian lettuce, fresh strawberries, pineapple, mango, dates, toasted almonds, red onion in a delicious raspberry balsalmic dressing! Did I say I love summer? I think so.

                      Dinner Time!

                      :H ,

I knew some of you would wonder what Faggotts are, they are kinda like large meatballs, made from pork, rusk and herbs and come in gravy.

They are really a west country food and are especially loved here in Wales where they make nice home made ones (ours were frozen).

Now I have explained them they sound pretty yuk but believe me they are tasty!! Those of you in the UK will know what they are.

Now I don't know what rusk is LOL! I need that British Translation dictionary that Macks (I think it was him) forwarded to us a while ago. Nonetheless, I love meatballs! My daughter is crazy for them as well!

                          (((Kitty)))

That sounds great to me....much better than the snails and frogs they all were talking about. I'm going to ask my hubby if he has had them, he's from Ireland.

                            Dinner Time!

Hart I'm sure your hubby has probably tried them or at least know what they are.

Accountable rusk is a wheat based flour which is baked and is basically used as a binding agent like breadcrumbs would be used for meatballs etc.

Fagotts are considered quite a cheap foodstuff here, and they used to be very popular here in the UK in the 70's when I was little (so they are nostalgic for me) and also after the 2nd world war when good quality meat cuts where expensive.

I love them now and again then because they are very satisfying and after a few good days on my diet I just faniced something a little naughty.

I am well aware of the other connotations of the word "faggot". Many years ago my best frinde came out to his father over the phone about being gay and he got a bit upset and I had to take over the coversation with his dad. Anyway after his an initial shock he talked to my friend again and was very cool about him coming out and after a little chat he asked us what we were having for tea. My friend said faggots and his dad said "that's apt son"

I always remember that call because it was a very distressing and brave call for my friend to make and his dad was wonderful and really did lighten the conversation.

Anyway tomorrow I'm cooking home made lasagne and friday is take away night so I'll be having a Kebab (yeah I know it's naughty!)

Hope I don't sound like a bit of a trash bucket, most of the time I try and eat really healthily but right now I'm cutting myself a bit of slack because I'm trying really hard with the drinking.

                            God ating everyone,

                            Kitty

Kitty, you don't sound like a trash bucket at all. The conversation you had that day probably was distressing. I honestly hate those terms as we are referring to human beings. The 'slang' in the English language can be quite disheartening!

Thanks for your summary of what is what. One thing I find interesting with this group of people are the differences in the way we speak.
