Thanks for the talk,Molly - something we will have to do sooner or later - mine are in their very late 70s, and very healthy - but...

          Morning all!

Really feel for those of you with elderly parents. I was never close to my mum and wished her ill at times I am ashamed to say then when my husband died she suddenly became my best friend. Unfortunately this coincided with the rapid onset of dementia and it was heartbreaking. She loved my brother to bits but he would only deal with her on a very limited level, something he now truly regrets. Just as things were getting really tough she died suddenly in her sleep. Wish I had been sober in those last few months of her life, she hated me drinking but of course I just took it as mum interfering at the time.

I think boredom is a big issue for all the elderly with no easy answer.

Feel very virtuous having already walked the dog and eaten a healthy breakfast, the diet has been terrible over the last week or 2 despite all the exercise. My befuddled brain is telling me its ok to pig out and it isn't so back on track with Weight Watchers, 17.5 weeks and counting to Vegas

Saw the abuse, Rox - think we should strike - time spent by the lazy feckers moaning about the absence of coffee and lifestyle appropriateness of mugs they could have made coffee ten times over!

I like my breakfasts and lunches to be same-old same-old - if it kept me full yesterday and the day before etc it will keep me full today, so there little variation there. Dinner is when I play with my food. Made the most amazing sauce last night - cream, drunken prunes that I soaked ages ago in a sweet dessert wine, soy sauce and quince jelly, served with shoulder of springbok. Mr Lobster's brother and SIL much impressed.

Oh, the curtain twitchers - can't they make their own entertainment?

Good morning Sweetypea, Satzuma, Foxyloxy, Mollymooo, Roxxxy, Damooooooooo, Spidy, Dreamydoooooooooooo.

Bit late on parade this morning...........forgotten what having Jenz at home was like............

Goes out for dinner at a friends.

Text to say she's coming home not spending the night.

Another text can she borrow a tenner.

2.15am ................ding dong she can't find her keys..............taxi driver half way up the drive saying he doesn't believe she's got the money inside the house.

2.16am.............Very big 6' 4" man (her dad) in rather nice dressing gown appears with money..............taxi driver slinks back to cab.

The next half hour banging around making toast, hiccuping and telling the dog how much she loves her.

                              3am.....................silence.
It could be worse, I could be filing.
