    Sober Junists- Assemble!

June has been a good month -at least I have been vertical and know where I am. I have restored relationships, mended some fences, and continue to have an excitement for life.

The worrisome part for me is that seems it that I am an educated derelict. For over 35 years, I have worked for myself or with my father, and now I find myself LOST. What to do, how to earn money. I really-really enjoy a lot of different "things" but I am still not focused on "doing" any one particular "thing". I use to drink and dull the "not knowing" or lack of direction. But now, at 51, drinking is not an option (thankfully) I feel like I must get on with something -something I can sink my teeth into and run. Once I find something, I sometimes become overly passionate, but this is what I like about my nature.

Any thoughts, books, opinions are certainly requested and appreciated.

      Sober Junists- Assemble!

Hi all, checking in on a quiet thread. Hope everyone's having a good sober June

Spirit- sorry to hear about the worrisome part you're going through. It sucks to feel lost. Man, I've been there. I wish I had some answers or advice for you... just wising you well, buddy. Do you have any passions or hobbies that could potentially bring in a bit of income, and could be grown over time?

The good news is, that you're sober and vertical, and that's great!

        Hi all,
Quick check in with me. Been offline much of the past week. Happy to report remaining AF. More family dinners this week and a weekend with friends and then we are off on our own, ready to really start the road trip come next week.

Spirit, I understand about looking for something to pour my passion into. Have taken on new assignments almost every 3-5 years because they became too familiar. I found meditation (what is my purpose, what is my journey) to be extremely useful in helping me be open to new possibilities. It was through meditation that I became open to the notion of living and working in Africa.

Whoa Free -great to hear from you. Sounds like you are doing really well. I hope that you will be able to post some trip details in the future.

Free, I must become more available to true meditation

Peaceful travels to you and your family.

Hey Skull -thanks for the post -I just now saw this.

I have too many "things" that I love to do. It is now time for me to focus in on one or two things and run with them. My past experience in what brings in the money is the least thing that I want to do but that that is exactly what I am going to do -at least for now.

For me, the most painful part is the knowing that there is a direction that I am suppose to be going but I am somehow not open to knowing what direction that is. Heck, what if I am just here on earth for my 80+/- years on vacation and I am wasting my time on worrying and not pursuing my whatever? LoLx5 but true.

                  Sober Junists- Assemble!

Hi everyone- first official day of summer has past and now we're in the last week of June. Hope everyone's doing well. I spent the last week out of town on a work trip, also seeing lots of buddies. Lots of social time while everyone else drank. I had moments of boredom and a bit of frustration, but little to no temptation, and overall glad that I did stay sober.
                  Best to all sober Junists!

Hi Junist-s. I hope to always remember this particular June for because I was sober on Father's day and present with my dad and my sons. I am grateful.

                            Hi all,
Quick update from the road. After 20 days of meandering across the backgrounds of America's NE, and Midwest, we arrived in CO. Will start with some day hikes, build up to several 3-5 day backpacking trips and then, in 3-4 weeks, start on the 500 mile trip. Happy to report AF month for me, though I confess to having thoughts about having wine while making dinner in the campground. So far, have just followed Pinecone's advice to "hang in there." It works!

                            Warmest,
