We mention moderators, administrators, etc., who all need to be PAID. MWO had a small I/c from River Pharmacy until Visa and MasterCard don't want their names involved with online pharmacies.

RJ made an appeal a while ago and less a handful signed up. You can't expect this site to function when it has little income. I'm always surprised when I hear people who claim MWO is their lifeline etc. well then, send some money. It's not a large amount.

Business 101, look at the competition and see what they do that makes them successful. Use that knowledge to make yourself as or more successful.

This is very interesting to me because I am a member of another site that doesn't have "subscribers" but people who donate if when asked- and no one is forced into it or gets any "special" extras-the site has been so updated that it asks few and far between for donations.
In fact the last time it asked for donations was over a year ago- and it's quite a wonderfully put-together site. It's called WQD short for "We Quit Drinking" and anyone that wants to check it out -the website is : WQD Forums
I'm not selling another site- but if people here are unhappy with this site maybe check out some other places? There's also Sober Recovery.
I still like this site and check into to see what's up now and again, I'm not a subscriber, so I really don't have any issues with it. Thought I'd throw my 2 cents in.
I know a lot of people are committed to this site because of the friends they have made.

Although, now, I see there are a few problems- I haven't checked in here since April and I see I have pm's but none received through my email-although I did have that checked off in my account settings. Another is I don't see my profile picture in my profile page. But, these are minor as I am not on here so much-if I was then I can see how it would be bothersome-especially to a subscriber.

I have looked at other recovery sites. This site is old and does need to be updated. Since subscribing to the forum to support MWO, I have seen no changes, except for the fact that people are finding difficulties logging in or losing posts. I haven't had the same problem in the US. Don't know if the difficulties are more frequent in other countries, but I tend it think they are. Although I'm not having difficulties, I have seen some troll postings. What bothers me is that RJ comes every few years if that. For someone who started this forum and wants it to continue to be successful, I'd like to see her presence to answer questions that people have for her. I have looked at soberistas and was impressed. They just started charging members, but not sure how much, but it had to be done to keep it running efficiently. If they are going to update this forum, I'd like to know from RJ what changes will be made, or if they will just sustain it as is. Just an update would be nice.

At least eight of the posts marked as 'todays posts' are spam. There is usually an X at the end of the username.
Still It's pretty infuriating.
I am content because I have a lovely bunch of friends on the daily Abstinence thread. But I can't see the point of subscribing if the site does not get more carefully administered. Some kind of update from RJ or whoever would be very helpful. It's long overdue.

I dont understand why RJ is not looking at this and responding. I would be a moderator for nothing if it kept this site free of spammers.
I wish she would join the conversation before us subscribers bail out for lack of interest on her part.

Oh the incomprehensible rubbish spam has finally decided to join us on daily abstinence.
There must be some random way the computer generates this so old threads are being pulled up. Its really clogging up the website. I've stopped complaining because I am not getting any response.
Definitely a turn-off.

Incredible. Spammer/hackers have hi-jacked the forum. I hope MWO acts soon or they will eventually lose the site.

I was surprised to see RJ's posting in April, b/c I heard she sold MWO to her ex. I don't think MWO is being moderated AT ALL.

It is a shame. I came to this site after being banned from soberrecovery.com for "discussing medication." I found this forum much more welcoming and much less dogmatic. It's a shame it's gone downhill so fast.

MWO Site unavailability and problems

I'm heading camping with my son today. He owns his own computer consulting firm. I'm going to explain what is happening here and ask if he has any solutions to this problem. I spent my entire working life in technology so I'm happy to help as much as I can but we travel a lot and often times we are out of cell/wifi service. This site has been my life line the past 41 AF days. I can only imagine what it means to others here. We can resolve this, I'm confident!
