One Step at a Time - July 2014

Reccie, one way to tempt a kitty to eat is find a fine consistency cat food, like pate'- or baby food, and mix it with warm water to make a sort of "lappable" slurry. The warmth from the water increases the aroma and helps get extra fluids into them. It's worth a try. :h

Sometimes older kitties need a little nudging.

Paulie, how old is your daughter? I know it sucks, but that's what young adults are supposed to do- fly the nest. I hope you feel better soon. :h

One Step at a Time - July 2014

Just read back. I was on yesterday and it seems no one was around. Got busy last night and wow, I missed a lot! Had a great weekend. Got a lot of little things done that I hadn't had time for.

Fen I'm sorry about that cat, but the vision in my head about it had me laughing. Glad he/she is ok.

Pauly sorry about your daughter. I too was sad when EB moved out. I miss her a lot! I do get to see her a couple of times a week, but there is a hole where she was. It's just different. But it's the way it's supposed to be. How far away will she be?

Nora, when do you get the tooth fixed? Is it dis colored?

Welcome back mama. Loved the pics minus the snake one!

        How's the job k9?

Hope you all have a great Monday. I'll be back later.

          Howdy, Liz!

Nora, I forgot to comment on your tooth. As Liz asks, is it a different color? When my baby sister cracked her tooth when we were kids, it went grey colored. She finally got it fixed a few years back. Dental stuff sucks- painful AND expensive!

I texted K 9 to see how she's doing. Both she and the job are doing well! She's going to try to log on tonight.

Thanks for the heads up on Niner Fenny!

Had to laugh at my teeth having their own thread! Bwahahaaa! The friggin thing is better today so I've put off calling the dentist, I'll see how it does over the next 24hr period... maybe, just maybe, it's tender from having the crown put on last week. If there is a problem I'll need to get it sorted before Scotland 'cos it'll flare up with the plane ride.

My peace and quiet has been wrecked today... Bill has stayed home from work with a bad back. I'm really hoping he'll go in at some point. ( He went to the doctor and it's just a muscle, don't see why he needs to work from here as the location isn't going to make it any better. *mutter...*

Reccy... Did you take Poppy to the vet? Fenny's right about the warm water in the food... defo worth a shot.

Hiya Liz and everyone else... hope you're all having a good start to the week.

I love my family more than alcohol.:h

                  Afternoon steppers!

Glad your neck is better mama.

Zenny - my apologies, I meant to comment on your tooth pains yesterday but it somehow slipped my mind. Glad to hear it's not so bad today. Sorry about the lack of peace and quiet too, I can (as you know) empathise with wanting to have the place to yourself.

Fenny, I really like your cat's name. And thank you for the kitty feeding ideas.

Took poppy to the vet this afternoon. He gave her a thorough checkup, including feeling her kidneys, and couldn't find anything obviously amiss, so he decided to take blood and urine samples for analysis, which was pretty much what I expected would happen. Might get the results tomorrow with any luck. It's not cheap (is it ever?!! ), but you can't put a price on peace of mind.

                  :hallo: liz

                  Have a wonderful week everyone!

Hiya Mr & Mrs Bear and the hawt Dottie Belle! Sounds like you're having a good trip Dotts... hope the ceremony goes well.

Sorry about your back Mama. Do you have a heat pad at home? Works wonders for me when ye olde scoliosis starts playing up. That is very sad for 'Tucky... doesn't she have friends? You're lucky you were out of town and didn't have to go. That's sad too, me saying that!

Reccy... you know how I am about having my working space to myself. I just can't concentrate when someone is in the same room as me. He eventually went to work and I got more done in the subsequent half hour than I did all morning. Re Poppy, that's great news that there is nothing obvious. Yeah... I hear you on the Vet fees... gah! But peace of mind is paramount... and they can't tell us what they're feeling. I'm dabbling with the idea of pet insurance... I think you looked into that once, didn't you?

I'm trying to make myself go to the gym... I have zero enthusiasm for it today and neither does Jim so he's of no help!

Reccie, another big clue to kidney disease is how much the kitty is peeing. They tend to pee huge amounts when their kidneys are failing. I hope that Poppy's lab work comes back just fine. :h

Mama, I wonder *why* only three peeps showed up to Pennsatucky's shower? Sad, yes, but she needs to work on stuff. Her personality serves as a friend repellant of sorts, I'm thinking.

Dottie, I'm glad that things are going well.

Zen, when I'm dragging about working out, I just tell myself that I'll get up on the treadmill for ten minutes. I almost always end up doing a full work out. Of course, I only have to go into my basement!
