    I don't have the job

I got an e-mail today- the woman on Friday led me to believe I had the job but now she is saying that they are interviewing other candidates. I had questioned on Friday via e-mail the pay schedule because it's a 16 hours a week job with a certain amount per hour- but they they gave to a total gross per month which could never always be the same because some months have 4 weeks and some have 5. I just wanted to make sure I would be getting paid for 5 when I when I worked 5.

Anyway the e-mail said it's a set amount per month for 64 hours a month so there would be one week during the 5 week months where I would not work because of their budget. I would work just 4 weeks a month no matter what. That is totally fine by me obviously. Then at the end of the e-mail she said they were still interviewing OTHER CANDIDATES and hoped I was still interested in light of the information she gave me. I wrote her back and said i was still completely interested and thanked her for clarifying and told her that she would not find anyone more qualified than myself.

Do you think they were trying to scare me by mentioning other candidates because I was pushing the money thing. Do you think I still have it? I walked out of there with a start date.

I am so upset right now i've been crying for an hour. I hope I didn't blow it by apprearing greedy! :upset: I am such an ass.
Sunny days, sweeping the, clouds away. On my way, to where the air is sweeeet!!! Can you tell me how to get, how to get to......LOL

OH Happy I so, so sorry, perhaps send another email stating that you are a bit confused as you were given a start date and were thrilled because you assumed this meant you had the position.

Camper you are not an ass and I too am confused that they gave you a start date then said they are still interviewing.

Maybe they just need to say that on paper and you really have the job. CALL YOUR CONTACT TOMORROW. Clarify what is going on. Don't play this game and guess.

      Hugs.

Sweetie, If you walked out with a start date you need to ring immediately and clarify the situation! Was it the same person who gave you the date AND the email response? Is the right hand talking to the left?

          I don't have the job

What I think happened was that the person I would be reporting to gave me a start date- but then we she asked her boss about my money question, things got weird and maybe she didn't want to tell boss lady that she gave me a start date. I am worried a bit but I think her boss probably told her to say the thing about the other candidates thing to panic me so I would still agree to the job, which I am going to.

I'm not going to rock the boat by compalining about anything else, the job is too good.. I have no start date in writing so I cannot offically complain about anything. I'll know tomorrow, I honestly hope they were BS'ing me about the other people they are alledgedly interviewing. UGH...:upset:

Did she say "YOU will start on XX date?" or just something like "the starting date is XX" ?? s

                I don't have the job

                Hey Happy

I am so sorry to hear about your confusion with the new job. As one who has had to hire and fire (unfortunately), I don't understand what they are saying to you. It sounds to me like you acted like a totally professional manner in inquiring about hours and pay. I would think that they would want to hire a person who is totally professional. It also sounds to me like they acted in an unprofessional way at first indicating that you had the job and then saying they were still interviewing. That was extrememly bad practice.

I guess the best thing to do is to lay low for a few days (But I know the anticipation is killing you.) Give it maybe two days, and then call and ask about the status of the job. Follow it up with an email so you have something in writing. I was union president for several years, and we can go much farther with this, but nobody wants to.

I just hope you get the job and can't help but wonder why they are acting in such an unprofessional manner. They should know better.

Best of luck to you. Keep us informed!!
Rest in Peace, Bear. We miss you.

                  I don't have the job

Flip brings up a good point. Maybe it was a general start date time they told you? But either which way keep thinking positive, and you know I am always here to bitch-slap anyone that needs it. Please don't be sad......

A good Lushy bitch-slap is probably in order. I'm sorry I was too nice in my last post. The more I think about it, the more I want to see Lushy do some damage.

                        I don't have the job

It is partly my issue, after the interview and I left, THAT was when i sent the e-mail regarding the confusion regarding pay (I didn't think of it while I was there, it occurred to me on the subway on the way home). I sent an e-mail the minute i got home but it was Friday on a holiday weekend and I knoew I would probably not hear back until today. I think this is partly my fault- i should have gotten something in writing while I was there. I f-ed up.
