OK lovely Tawnyone - here is a snapshot of my trip. I hope you're not sorry you asked! Anyone else feel free to skip this if it?s too boring. It?s very long, sorry!

So - Cuzco was really interesting. I was really jet lagged and exhausted when I arrived so my brain was already foggy and the altitude got to me straight away. No nausea or headaches luckily, but I was very dizzy and short of breath. Cuzco is one of those places that assaults all the senses at once, but already being disoriented it seemed very surreal and it took a couple of days for me to acclimatise.

Everything in Cuzco was noisy, colourful and larger than life and a huge study in contrasts, especially between the ancient and modern and the rich and poor. We went from areas where the poverty was incredibly stark to places that were covered in gold (which was mainly anything belonging to the church).

Arriving in Machu Picchu was awe-inspiring. From Aguas Calientes (the nearest town), MP can only be reached by bus on a very scary switchback road up a steep mountain and she refuses to reveal herself until you walk around the very final bend. But wow ? what a sight you see when you finally get there! The impact of suddenly coming across an almost intact abandoned city, and the magnitude of the history behind it took my breath away. There are way too many examples there of the Incas? general awesomeness to describe here.

Probably the funnest part of the trip was the Amazon, although I nearly didn?t get there because I was really sick and it was all I could do to crawl out of bed to make it to the airport. I?d rather not think about that day or the next, but it soon got better! It is a truly beautiful part of the planet and genuinely unspoilt by tourists so far. The part I was in has very strictly controlled visitor numbers, so we were alone the whole time and could get a really good sense of the timelessness of the river and the jungle. And more importantly ? I cuddled a sloth.

And the final bit was Galapagos which was truly amazing. Probably a different experience to the rest of the trip because I?ve seen so many documentaries about it I knew what to expect, but to see it in person was a dream come true. One day I was snorkelling and came face to face with a giant turtle, the next day I snorkelled and swam with sea lions and iguanas.

The whole trip was exciting and exhausting, but being without TV or internet gave me lots of much needed time to sit and think ? and hopefully I can translate some of those thoughts and decisions into my life now I?ve returned. I missed you all though!

Safe travels Rags and Mr Rags x and thanks for the recipe too, will definitely be making that one.

Love your travel log too Glassy. You do sound like the walking wounded though, hope those things were only minor irritations in the scheme of everything you experienced.

We now have a quiet dog, visit to the vet to be desexed yesterday and she is meek and mild today...not sure how long it will last but its a nice change...

That's so cute Glassy. Yep, the locusts wanted to NOT have her spayed. Then I showed them the RSPCA website with at least 20 pups that looked exactly like her...I think they were under the impression that having a dog gave them a puppy farmers licence. She's better today too.

Echo what Bridge says, hope you can get around to putting up a few pics.

I'm on the back deck, listening to the Lamp jackhammer and dig away downstairs...he's wearing me out
