    Just popping off to bed, but came in for a quick read.

    Reggie - Mr B has a very fractious relationship with his daughter. It doesn't make him a bad father. It's just that when she turned 14 she realised he was a human being and not perfect like she had imagined.

      Good to know the Solitary confinement method is an option if i ever need it.

            Mmm...we suffer from the same affliction Reg...

            Funny thing, talking to the Lamp about our parenting lately and he says he has become me by osmosis...he is now the shouter, organiser, etc...I'm just nodding quietly in the background. I'd like to keep it that way he doesn't...

              No Mr G ....... bad relationships and kids living in bad relationships or who have been through difficult times are hell. Relationships aren't an end in themselves, and they definitely aren't a measure of "success" on any measure.

              Being the best person that you can possibly be, whatever life hands out to you, is a good idea though - that's the route to quality of life

                          Reggie - I didn't listen to my Da at that age either. At 35 I started to re-establish a relationship with him. And the last 10 years that he was alive we had an amazing and close relationship.

                          Today, one of my favourite photos is of me (aged 5) sitting on his knee. And my favourite memory is of the last meal we had together ....... prawn cocktail (1960s style ) followed by fish and chips, served up on the "best" plates on a beautifully ironed table cloth.

                          Regina is just doing the developmental stuff that you have prepared her for so well Reg. She is becoming her own person with independent views and thoughts. Be proud of that achievement!! (You may have spawned another one of those lovely stroppy Aussie gems in that process!!!).

                                I wonder how on the road schooling for a kid would go? i.e. Touring with a musical ensemble Gypsy style.
