    Piss off Wally.
    Yer a bit late mate.
I'm not interested in the 2010 FIFA cup.
But if you got a red hot deal in diving the Red Sea, I'm in, mated.

Next day was Mr Rags' birthday, and I'd booked Cascades at the Viceroy hotel...
a suite there is a mere 1280 euros for 2 nights... ye gods!
The food was beaut, starting with spring rolls
(I managed to drip sauce on the dibble damask tablecloth.)

and this great plate of assorted goodies.
The fish (with the lime slice) is mashed with spices and steamed in a nana leaf.
Seems the common way fish is cooked.
Went to a cooking class a few days later and that was one of the dishes
          we learnt to cook.

The teddies had come along to join Mr Rags for his birthday dinner
and they tucked into the dessert great way of serving it... it is stuck into a glass full of sugar.

When we finally got back to our hotel, there was a phone call...
there was a little birthday cake for Mr Rags.
The staff had waited ever so patiently for us to return
so they could do their presentation.
          Lovely.

Don't know what is going on Tawn,
other than Wally is rather annoying.

Sometimes I have to log right out thenlog back in and
like you, spend hours watching the circle go round and round.

BTW Has anyone heard from Aspy?

My sojourn into hitherto unknown fruits continues.. this is called snakeskin fruit. No idea what its botanical name is.
Looks like a fig. Tastes between an apple and a pear with
              tough apple texture.

Next morning we moved to the hotel down the road,

and headed off to a cooking class, organised by nudge nudge wink wink, Mr. Dupa who works at the hotel but has a couple bussiness interests on the side.
What better way to get clients than from the hotel wher you work.
We did a few dishes... mashed tuna in spices wrapped in nana leaf and steamed,
satay chicken (use smaller pieces than K usually do and
only 3 pieces to a stick) a salad and boiled and steamed rice.

Liked the bbq. Reckon if I got a piece of guttering I could knock one up.

Did anyone watch the MC episode where whathisname White made
the contestants chop up an onoin?
Well, it was the same at the cooking school.
After Mr Rags and I chopped the spices up as small
                as we could,
cook came along and chopped them up even finer!

This handsome chap was in a cage in the compound where we did the cooking... he was to be a blood sacrifice for some celebration in the near future.

This flying frog dangled above our cooking pots, probably to ward off mozzies.

That evening we went to dinner at this tiny cafe well up the main road from the tourist stretch. It had been recommended to us by an old friend.
                It was wonderful.
Soup, satay chicken, corn fritters, tempeh, a curry, 4 juices and a second serving of curry rice and corn fritters: $18.00
If any Undies are going to Ubud, seek out this place,
but watch out for the big step to get into the place.

                Brekkie... pandan pudding.

                              Thanks Happs.
It was mainly a recce and food holiday for us.
Met up with a dear friend who left OZ to live in Bali about 20 years ago. Lot of water under the bridge since then and it was wonderful to catch up.

That wasn't Mr G trying to tackle you was it Bridge?

I got a couple of versions of what happens...

Cockfighting is alive and thriving in Bali apparantly...
as a sport, and also for sacrifices.
Seems the gods are more appeased if the blood sacrifice is from the
result of a cruel and bloody fight.
I did suggest a more genteel way would be for a human to
shed a drop or two... after all are we not superior beings?
Would not our blood have more worth?
Didn't go down at all well.

The other version is that the rooster is humanely killed by having its throat slit
and the blood sprinkled around. I think that one is for the tourists.
