I've just come back from trying to sort out the car registration ......
I need a green slip and a pink slip.
But nobody could tell me what the green slip and the pink slip certified!! (Seriously - the guy at the NSW govt Service Centre just kept saying that I needed a pink slip and a green slip ......... but all attempts to ask how I went about getting them fell on blank ears)
Popped next door to the NRMA people and found out that and one is about compulsory 3rd party insurance and the other is about a "rego check" (which is what I expected, and my nephew had it done a week before he handed the car over to us because he thought it was a seller's obligation ....... but it turns out it is a buyers obligation so because of the change of ownership we need to do it again!!)
So now I need to find a local mechanic who can do the rego check ..... sigh
off out to do that .... and a massage :-) I need one :-)
You need to get the rego check done compulsorily for the green slip which must accompany your rego papers. That is a very basic safety check.
The NRMA can also do a much more comprehensive check for a fee. They also sponsor and approve other private businesses to conduct this comprehensive check according to their criteria and provide an approx. costing for each item. It will cost you, but may prevent you being caught in the middle of nowhere with a broken Bruce.
