    August Undies

    Arvo all,

Techster ... don't you think it's time to go a little easy on yourself? Maybe try whittling or stamp-collecting or macrame?

Although we didn't get above 10C here this morning, the sun was shining and I managed three hours of weeding. Feels good.

Here's an HR question for you Glassy. If a staff member rings in on Monday morning to say that they are "not feeling 100%" and their manager requests an update on the work plan for a project that is overdue by 2 weeks, and which was supposed to have been done by last Friday, except that the staff member was away on sick leave on Friday, which staff member says was brought on by the stress on which the manager is said to have caused because she as asked this person to stick to the time lines which she committed to 2 months ago, is the said manager entitled to be fucking grumpy????? Or is she just a bully and should be hauled in front of the Human Right Commission because she is being discriminatory (insert grounds)????

I know that our workplace is a tough place to be at the moment, and I know that my boss made some very poor recruitment and selection decisions in the past. But there are about 8 of us trying to keep the edifice of our organisation alive and to my shame, today was the day that I spat the dummy and walked out at lunchtime. Ostensibly to "work at home".

I have organised a "maintaining resilience through change" workshop for tomorrow. It was organised weeks ago but it can't have come at a better time!!!

Techie, a break from hiking sounds like a great idea, and I?ve heard bubble wrap origami is a fascinating pastime.

Miss B, the hypothetical manager is more than entitled to be fucking grumpy. In fact, I would suggest that any manager that didn?t feel at least some measure of fucking grumpiness is probably either very stupid or in a coma. A carefully crafted dummy spit sounds like the best option of the possible alternatives.

Unlike the staff member above, I crawled into work after having my ear syringed this morning (ouchies) because there was an urgent R&S process I had to see to on my return and found that it?s 3 weeks behind schedule and I don?t need to do anything for at least a fortnight.

Thanks Glassy. Can I quote you when she hauls me in front of the HRC :H??? (Actually I know she doesn't have a snow balls chance in hell, and that the law on discrimination is very well balanced)

I hope that people who had more important concerns to deal with today had a good one.

            That includes all of you

Happy - how was the new chemo regime???

Evening Undies, agree with the others Missy, full entitlement to grumpage for you. And Glassy. And for Reg. Vent away, it does help.

New chemo starts Thursday. The Lamp will be with me this time, be interesting to see how the drug mix plays out. The main one they use for side effects is Phenergan, a drug I remember my sister giving their kids to make them sleep through the night! it can go either way though, sleep or hyper wired. Like I said interesting. My vent

Always other times Reg. It'll happen, I'm sure. I wont be slack and stay in bed!! And you know, like I've told a few others, I'd be pissed off if people didn't share what went on in their day, its what we do, report in and bounce ideas off each other.

We went off trail (a no no) and lost our bearing. Our friend Rich was not feeling well and exhibited signs of heat exhaustion. It was 96f and we were at just under 8000 feet in elevation. So our 8 mile hike turned into a 12 mile hike with very steep climbs. I may lose another toenail. My podiatrist loves me. Rich recovered after I had him use my bio-salts. Scary stuff and after all the medical stuff I've been through I think I will take a break from hiking for a few weeks. BTW, I have a 7:07am tee time tomorrow

                    Love you all!
                    Techie, holy crap!

I'm glad you made it back in one piece. This is a very good example of why peeps should not go "off" trail...I hope you won't do it again!
I had my own scare a few years back (although on a much less extreme level). I was at my new land in late winter, and thought to take a few minutes to follow a deer trail to locate some "sheds" (shedded antlers). I didn't bring any water, as it was going to be a few minutes foray. I ended up getting hopelessly twisted around and was gone for hours. I had to eat snow to stay hydrated.

All the while, I was frantically trying to find some sort of familiar sign, and wondered the whole time what would happen if I was out in the cold all night. When I finally found a road, I practically fell to my knees and kissed it!

I hope you get to retain your toenail...and as Tawny suggests, maybe take up some macrame' or quilling for a while!

Do I need to update the Database of Death again?

Hello Fennel...I had to do a survival exercise about being lost in the snow this week. Didn't have a clue what to do for it. Only seen snow a few times in my life when living overseas I think we agreed to drink a litre of maple syrup each and take turns overseeing a fire.....pretty sure we would have perished fast.
If your 8 year old self met you, would they be proud?
