ONE STEP AT A TIME... AUGUST, 2014

Pauly - Fall Out Boy was not MY choice...but they are Sierra's "life", according to her! :H It should be interesting I guess. It's an outdoor venue so I am sure we will get a contact high. LOL

I remember my first concert. I was fifteen years old, and my mom dropped my friend and me off at the Coliseum. We went to see Eddie Money/Cheap Trick. My friend, being somewhat more adventurous than myself, insisted upon standing in the crowd in front of the stage, rather than being seated...somebody spilled beer on me, and I reeked like a brewery! I was not yet a drinker at that point, LOL. During the Cheap Trick gig, Rick Nielsen began flicking guitar picks out into the audience- one hit me square in the forehead, which stung a bit. I grabbed it and have it to this day.

          what an awesome story fenny
my first concert was Jackson Brown
but I was an awesome mom too when I took Grant (then 12-ish) (now 23) to see In Synch with Justin Timberlake
the stadium was full of screaming teenage girls and made my head pound. His guinea pig, Patches, had died that morning and I will never forget him looking up at me and saying....with his huge, blue eyes...."Mom, can we go home? I'm sad about Patches and these stupid girls are hurting my ears":h:h

Fenny's Flicked in Forehead story is funny :H

Poor Grant...wow he must have been sad to want to leave all those screaming, sweaty girls. LOL

I have no idea what to wear...not that any of those kids would be looking at me anyway. Comfort is my main priority these days, not fashion (all of my "fashion" comes from the thrift store anyway).

Sierra just brought me Subway because I didn't have anything to bring for lunch. Just waiting now for all the guys to clear the break room. They don't appreciate me changing the channel on the TV to OWN or Lifetime. LOL

First, thanks for the warm welcome all!

Sunshine - I'm still going on Day 3. My brain still feels so foggy, but folks have kindly reminded me that I'm still in the very first steps of detoxing so I'm trying to stay patient. I get along best with a motely bunch, hehe; sounds fine to me and thanks for the nudge in this direction.

Pauly - xD Nuthouse thread, I like it better already! I heard you were over here, too; knew it had to be fun.

My first concert was Metallica; I think I was 16 or 17. (Yay mom for letting me go!) I went with an ex boyfriend who was pissy the whole time because he didn't get that no, this wasn't a secret way to get back together. We'd just already bought the tickets and he said he was still ok going so I went. I'd said for years that Metallica would be my first concert even though they hadn't been in my state for like 4 or 5 years and I wasn't about to miss it when a radio station did a petition (that I signed) and Metallica actually said "Ok, we'll play there, then." That was my first lesson that "of course I can still be your friend, I won't make anything weird" isn't always realistic. Great concert, though!
I am stubborn as a pig - but changing what I'm being stubborn about!

Oh gosh - SO hate when I hit a key - I am never sure what it is that I hit - but it makes my whole page go up and down - and I lose what I have written in my reply !!!!! I am staying really calm and not getting ticked ..... I shall just try and remember EVERYTHING THAT I WROTE. Ahem ......

hi everyone - my first concert (and I am REALLY dating myself) was a Doors concert before they were famous. Must be about 45 years ago - But I was REALLY young when I went to see them ..... LOL

Oh dear - to try and remember all that I said. I did love the concert stories - both Fens and Pauly's - I thought that was a good way to get better seats Pauly !!

Oh - do any of you have an iPad ? I have a Nook that is on it's way out and am thinking of getting an iPad but want others thoughts on them - if any of you have one .......

Nora and K9 - good for you both TTDP. K9 - you have a great daughter - that was nice of her to bring you a sub - but then you sound like a pretty good mum too :goodjob:

Lav - I am really proud of you on day 3 - from what I read on your thread, and how you have managed to stop, you have done amazingly well !!! Is this your first time being AF - well, that you have tried to be - you know what I mean! I am most impressed ! You have done far better than I could have !

Umm - oh - MB - hope that the new ABX is kicking in and that you are starting to feel better ? :l

All my dogs are smelling so lovely - had two of them groomed and I did the third ! they are all exhausted after their tiring day! LOL

Okay - cannot think of anything else - so am going to go and sort out some dinner ....

                    hugs, Sun XX
How simple it is to see that we can only be happy now and there will never be a time when it is not now....

                      Afternoon/evening!

Mama, I hope the new antibiotics work better than the last lot.

I'm glad your throat is better than it was, nora.

Kradle, are you a short or long-term trader? I think another crash is inevitable, equities have been defying gravity for a while now. This bull market is getting long in the tooth.

Did you manage to get the paint for the bedroom sunny? What colour are you going to paint it?

Hope you're finally finished with the house by now dotts, you deserve a break.

Pants is another word that means something different in different parts of the world. Here when people say pants they mean underwear. It's actually an abbreviation for underpants, though not everyone realises it.

                      Enjoy the concert tomorrow, niner.

Anyone know anything about cars? There's some dark fibrous stuff growing out of my car's exhaust. I cut a couple of feet or so off with scissors every day and it keeps re-appearing!

A couple of you asked where I am at with AL. A bit more than a year ago I had half a dozen sessions with an alcohol counsellor and he helped me to cut down my alcohol intake drastically, but I decided I wasn't ready to stop drinking completely and ever since then have been doing my own version of moderating which involves drinking beer late in the evening. It's not a perfect situation, but it sort of works for me and my circumstances and helps me sleep. I drink less today than when I first started moderating and my slips are less frequent and generally smaller in magnitude than they were. Nevertheless, I am working to reduce my intake further and trying to eliminate the slips altogether. Sorry, but you did ask!

Fenny, it's good to see you too, you've been a bit quiet lately. I know you've disappeared off to the cabin for the weekend, but maybe you'll read back when you return.

That's a big decision to put your house up for sale, I can understand about not wanting the bother and expense of maintaining a house that's bigger than you need. Will you be looking to stay in the same area?

                      Hi to everyone else.

Lavender- good job on Day 3. I was Al free for 8 months and now I drink on date night with hubs on Saturdays.
I had people screaming at me all day. I work on a rough area of town, and some abuse is to be expected, but today was a doozy. I bought some beer and plan on relaxing and calming d
