ONE STEP AT A TIME... AUGUST, 2014

    Afternoon!

Lav - good going on saying "no", it's not easy to do if you're lacking in self-confidence. Not long ago I saw a very good post on FB explaining how "no" is a complete answer all by itself and doesn't necessarily have to be explained or justified.

Fenny - it's interesting that you have no tv. I think I could live without it if need be, but would find it very hard to do without the Internet. Hope the work on your house will get done quickly, it's so hard to relax when there are workmen around.

Dotts - good for you, taking those classes at the library. Is the house you're selling the one you were brought up in? That would be tough. And well done on talking to the woman about leaving her dog in car. :goodjob:

Kradle - glad the block party went well.

Nora - your home must be overrun by animals! I'm another cat person and never had a dog (even as a child) until less than a year ago. I'm glad your son's suitcase arrived safely, if somewhat belatedly. Did he report back on how your mum is?

Cori - you did very well to make it to day 3 on Saturday, how is it going now? Here is the link to your cockatoo:

Sunny - that was a productive day you had yesterday! I'm extremely impressed with your many domestic talents, especially your ironing abilities! :H

Zen - I'm loving reading about life on Lewis. That is sad about the guy in the car. Did you find out how he is? I hope he'll be ok. Thank goodness it wasn't a school day with lots of young children around.

Nursie - I'm sorry you saw an accident too. Well done on not drinking at the barbecue.

Pauly, I took a leaf out of your book from yesterday and fell asleep this afternoon. Afternoon naps are so refreshing.

K9 - glad you both enjoyed the concert.

Liz - FWIW, I agree with the others about not allowing CJ's BF to stay so late.

Well, I had a pleasant weekend up at my mum's. We went to a festival thing celebrating local produce/talents/arts and crafts in a nearby park. There were a lot of people there, something that would have put me off going a year or two back, but I actually enjoyed myself wandering around looking at all the different stands.

It does indeed seem strange sunny! :H I only ever ironed shirts and could never bring myself to do more than one shirt at a time, so used to have to do that every day before work. Happily those days are behind me.

New Tricks is excellent, it's one of the few programs I watch. Amanda Redman is reason enough to watch it in my book...

Recluse yes it is the house i grew up in and my folks lived there. Built new in 1959 and they lived there ever since. I had to move dad to an Alzheimer's facility over a year ago and mother died 5 years ago. I tried renting it but ht was more trouble than it was worth. So time to sell...very sad for me.

The spammers bug me, too, as it seems that nobody is caring for the site when they are running rampant. Plus, as Pauly said, often an old topic is brought up- I sometimes am fooled into thinking there might be a legitimate update to the thread, but no...it's just spam. I am glad they have been deleted!

Mama, I hope baby Tucky just pops out already. How much maternity leave will Bri get?

Reccie, have you taken your car 'round to the barber shop yet? :H

ONE STEP AT A TIME... AUGUST, 2014

Today, I took mom out for her thrice weekly walk. We went to the mall, as it was warm and humid outside, which makes for difficult breathing. Unfortunately, she forgot to "charge" up her portable oxygen pack, so it ended up sounding the warning chime after only one lap at the mall. Alarmingly, she was sucking air like a beached guppy, so I had to hurry her home. She is on oxygen 24/7.

As she had no portable options left, I went out and finished her errands while she rested at home. At first, I wanted to strangle her for not charging up the oxygen pack- but, my frustration is really because she is failing, and rapidly. I keep trying to find new ways to keep her going, but the truth is that she is not going to improve.

Anyway, I had a busy day picking up cat litter, cat food, plus bottled water and a natural mouth rinse for her. I am hoping that if she uses the rinse before eating, food will taste better to her. Her appetite is at an all time low again, due in part to dry mouth from medications. It makes food taste awful to her.

When I got home, I cleaned out the guest bedroom closet, which is mostly my stuff. Threw out tons of stuff, got rid of some shelving, vacuumed and washed the floor in there. Handy dude is back outside as we speak.

Mrs. Fen is finding some groovy condo options to look at, which is good. She is awesome at locating properties. She is the one who found this house, plus our cabin.
