        AVA HAS NINE MONTHS!!

        Oh thanks so much everyone.

Its been a 9 month journey of ups and downs and hate and love of myself but at the end of the day i finally have come to the realisation I can do this and its actually me doing it, with the amazing and fabulous support of my mwo friends. You guys are the ones that keep me hard and fast on the task of being sober. Us alkies dont like to let anyone down and even though i may never have seen your faces you are all a part of my sober life. Thank god you were never part of my drunk one or you probably would not be talking to me now!

Its been hard to learn to love the new me, to deal with everyday life and stresses but the sober me is coping quite well. I have never met a bunch of people that have understood me like you all have, have tolerated my words and havent told me to fark off and to mind my own business.

I made a decision on the 1st December to live my life the way it deserves to be lived, i could not have gotten any lower than what i was and today it may be just a memory but its one i cannot forget. I have no regrets since i stopped drinking except that i wish i had done this sooner. I will keep walking the walk with you all on here and i am proud to be a sober alky and i do know that if not for you all helping me along the way that i would never be where i am today. Its a farking fantastic day in the life of Ava. It may be the first day of spring and its raining and cold and miserable but today is a good day. Everyday is a good day when i am sober. Thank you all so much for getting me and keeping me sober. My children thank you all, it is a special day for them also.

Now off i toddle with my oscar! xxx

Ava - like you, one of the really wonderful outcomes from being sober is having a daughter being so thankful that her Mum quit. Its not like they didn't love us when we were drinking - but its only when we have this sober time that we can see in honesty the impact that our drinking may have had on them. Its never too late either to do something about this.
(sorry to derail your fab Oscar speech but since I am a Kiwi you will let me!:l)

              AVA HAS NINE MONTHS!!

Tree i totally agree, i thought i had a good relationship with my kids when i was drinking but i have a fantastic one now. Even my 21 yr old son has seen how happy and content i am and he now has made the choice to not ruin his life with al. I hope that the addiction to al stops in this generation and does not continue on. Now off you go back to your sheep! ha ha

Congratulations Ava. You have proven to so many scared people that it can be done one day at a time. Your strength and determination are admirable. The way you help newbies in the nest is impressive and you are changing and saving lives as you put so much time on there with genuine and thoughtful posts. Thank you for all you do on MWO. I know your life has changed in so many great ways. I'm so happy for you!

                    WHOOT!

I love your funny, no nonsense approach to something that can be so hard and confusing. Your support of others here is amazing.

I know I won't drink with a quit sister like you to keep me on the right path. And like you said, we don't like to let people down. I also never want to come face to face with one of your bricks.

                    Thanks, and congratulations!
