    How long does this take?

I also don't think that the cravings ever really go away - there will always be thoughts, sites and sounds that at the very least remind you of your drinking (like when I opened my sports drink this morning to pour in some diet 7-Up - my brain took me to pouring vodka into my soda bottle).

I do think they lessen over time, and I do think that they way we manage them also changes over time. We pick up tools along the way that help us deal with those situations but unfortunately I don't believe that our guard can ever be let down.

      How long does this take?

      Hi,

I'm about 35 days AF and I just drove past a pub (inn or tavern in USA I think?) anyway two old men were sitting on a table outside in the hot afternoon sun with a pint glass each full of ice - cold, golden lager ( i could see the condensation on the glass). :argh:

I had to look away or i would have parked and gone in and ordered myself a couple of hundred !!!!!!!!!!! LOL. :lol3:

I am going for 60 days AF cos I can't trust myself I won't 'go over the edge' and drink till I drop again.

Came home cracked open alcohol free lager in a glass full of ice and wedge of lime. It actually did hit the spot.

      Love to all, :h

GG, I have managed not to drink for almost 4 months, I took the topa for a while
and I'm still taking kuzdo and other supps. I still get cravings especially at weekends.
I just try to do something to take my mind off it, also eating something sweet helps,
I've just eaten an ice cream, that took the urge away, I also remind myself of how
bad I would feel if I gave in. I don't do fags ! either.

                        How long does this take?

Someone asked MD why he quit. He, of course, has to answer that for himself. But I tell you why I wonder if I will quit Campral,, my hubby asked our doc and he said give it at least 3 mos.

I am an epileptic. I have not had a seizure in several years, won't, as long as I take my meds. But when I was first diagnosed w/epilepsy and took meds, I thought, Hell I haven't had a seizure in years, I probably don't even need medication. So I stopped. Guess what?

So that is why a lot of people who have chronic diseases, allergies, habits, etc, stop taking what they know will work.......testing the waters

Now this may be way off base., but my two cents.......and unasked for at that~!:H

Alcohol is such a scary thing.
A guy I work with has been AF for 15 years and he had to leave our Christmas party because he was sitting next to a girl that was drinking Christian Brothers, which was his favorite, and the smell on it was driving him crazy. He just had to walk away and leave. Good thing we were all done with dinner and everything when he left.
It's scary how powerful it is over us.

I think that when I decided to try and stop drinking/moderate, I knew that the craving for alcohol would never go away from me completely. It is just too strong. I think that is part of the reason I chose to moderate, and part of the reason I pray so hard that it will work. I don't think I am strong enough to fight it off completely, forever. I envy those of you who are strong enough, and I think the world of you who are trying to be AF. Your strength is amazing.

I have been drinking for years, and could'nt moderate because if I tried I would be back
to square one. I do wish you well and the cravings do get better.
