One Step at a Time - September 2014

I agree with Reccie...it will take a while to iron things out. I am going to stick with this place.

I have never had good luck with Facebook. No matter what email addy or alias I use, my family is always able to hunt me down on Facebook, which indicates to me that the privacy is pretty non-existent. I know this is the case also because my privacy settings were frequently being changed when I was on Facebook. There is no way I'll ever get back on that site. I know...lots of folks enjoy communicating with family...but mine just seems to enjoy instigating drama and other problems. Tainted gene pool, lol!

Zen, I wonder what is up on your end- you said last night that my post and Liz's weren't showing up...but I could see all of our posts. It's true that I couldn't see Nora's and Liz's posts immediately after they'd made them- I think because when I looked at the time markers, we were all cross-posting.

Concerning the infrequent posters...I'm sure that the unfamiliarity of the new site isn't helping, but they began their lack of posting before the whole changeover started. I do wish they'd come around! :h

I think the best thing is to go and report the wonkiness...R.J. posted that more upgrades will be in order, so we just need to hang in there. Which reminds me...it looks like peeps can subscribe again? wl: What a cute little owl! Just wanted to put that in there.

I am pleased to report that I have a day to myself! I plan to wash the sheets and clean. Mrs. Fen has been whining about the cold (already!), so I put the electric blanket and down comforter on the bed. This has to be a world record in earliness. Today will get up to 74 degrees, so that will be nice.

Mom Fen had a lovely birthday dinner, and nobody at the table drank. It doesn't mix well with mom's meds and nobody else at the table was inclined, it seems. I hope that wasn't just to suit me, but it was a great feeling after. What normal person arrives home from an evening of dining and congratulates themselves for not getting drunk? :H

Our flamboyantly gay waiter made a big fuss over mom and even brought her a creme brulee' on the house after dinner. She was over the moon! :h

Mama, I'm glad to hear that you have Bri's replacements all lined up...that will help things go smoothly.

No walnut trees in Florida? I'm sure there's some other high falutin' tree that peeps are poaching, then. :H Cypress?

Sun, I am wondering that, too.

I know you have mentioned the difference between "homely" in the U.K. to "homely" here....maybe we in the states mean that somebody is so unattractive they should be kept at home, LOL! We use "homey" in place of your "homely".

                Morning all,
I try to post often but I am still having issues with being logged out every time I move to another tab and then having to sort again to find you all. But I am here and doing my best. I have reported my isues so maybe, someday they will be fixed. FB is fine with me too and I also visit the site Nursie created. I too miss all the interactions but what can we do??
Off to the gym then maybe some laundry. What fun....
FT hope it works out for you.

apologies for being quiet again, I've been a bit unwell the last day or two. Haven't read back yet, so just replying to zenny's most recent post for now.

I think the first thing to say is that staying with the old MWO was not an option. Things were bad and were only going to get worse, so change was inevitable.

Server migrations and upgrades can be extremely complex undertakings and it is perfectly normal for there to be significant issues afterwards, especially if the original server software has been allowed to become rather dated, as I think was the case here. It can take anything from a few weeks to a few months to resolve all the issues and it's also possible that some issues may not be resolvable. We need to be patient and give zach and RJ time to work on the problems and we can help them by providing clear information about the issues we are experiencing or things we would like to see changed to improve the way the site functions (where possible).

While zach is doing what he can, there are things we can do to help matters along, such as emptying our PMs out and fixing our avatars to give the thread a more familiar feel. We also need to be prepared to spend a little time acquainting ourselves with the new format and learning how to do things.

Personally, I'm prepared to be patient and give zach and RJ time to work on the new site, but maybe I'm experiencing fewer problems than others here? Like you, zenny, I'm happy to go along with whatever everyone else wants.
Don't know if my multi-quote is going to work. I haven't read the directions yet. :H But, I wanted to 'like' this too. Tawny - how do I like a post?????

Good morning all...Nora I saw that you were online skype this morning...can I skype you if I see that or are you at work??

Yes and yes like and live to Reccys post!! And Zenny I am one of the haven't posted as often people but it really has nothing to do with the migration...just so fricken much happening I often have nothing to say...but I must make it VERY VERY clear that I do come here EVERY DAY and you are ALL my anchor...whether I post or not , I am reading and laughing and crying ( your choosing the headstone Fenny really moved me. So I'm here I'm here I'm here !!!!! With all the Shit that s gone in our lives ( and I think I can safely assume this...) a little migration down time can't rock our boat too badly...right??

Okay, raining and gloomy here in Seattle but it matches my insides so I'm ok. AL check in...one beer last night....all stress related....

Mama, that's great news that your workload will be easing soon.
Fenny, I agree with you about security on FB, it worries me quite a bit too. Sounds like you had a pleasant time yesterday evening, I'm glad. :goodjob:

Sunny, can't believe you did four hours of ironing! :egad: Clearly I'm not a typical Brit cos I don't iron at all.

IFT, I agree that your health should have the highest priority right now and postponing the trip to Italy is probably sensible. Also, I think that it wouldn't be fair to miss your son's event, especially if he was already counting on you to go.

Nora, I'm glad you're doing better.

                          Enjoy the gym, dotts.

Zenny, when you comment on a post, your comment is added to the original post, whereas when you quote a post, you create a new post. So in this case your comment can be found on fenny's original post. Or perhaps you worked that out already?

On the subject of commenting, I am guessing that only subscribers have the ability to comment on posts, can anyone confirm this? I don't seem to have a comment button anywhere.
