Why use abbreviations or obscure words?

Ever thought that people here are drunk and don't need to process the words when their main problem is addiction? Why make them feel dumb with your fancy words. Some are really beginners and have no knowledge. So what I'm pleading is that you don't abbreviate words and bring the pretentiousness down a bit.

    Hi Lorchard,

Welcome friend. Yes, it can be difficult to decipher some of the lingo around here.

    How are you doing?

Maybe you could start a thread with abbreviations, asking for their meanings. It would be a good reference for new people here. I have no clue what terms a newcomer might find pretentious . I do remember that it took me a long time before I understood that AF means alcohol free.
My life is better without alcohol, since 9/1/12. My sobriety tool is the list at permalink 236 on the toolbox thread under monthly abstinance.

No one is trying to cause problems but especially when typing on a phone, abbreviations are useful. This might help you:

Also, feel free to ask what something means. MAE confuses almost everyone!

          No pretentiousness here.
We've all from different cultures had to figure it out for ourselves - or join in a conversation by asking ?
NEVER knew until today what MAE was :H
Didn't stop me getting sober last year
