Louise, I used to love John Prine! That is a great song. I haven't heard his stuff in years-is he still around? I've got the flash back blues, and ...one of my favorites
Spanish Pipedream (AKA Blow Up Your TV)
? John Prine
She was a level-headed dancer on the road to alcohol
And I was just a soldier on my way to Montreal
Well she pressed her chest against me
About the time the juke box broke
Yeah, she gave me a peck on the back of the neck
And these are the words she spoke
Chorus:
Blow up your TV throw away your paper
Go to the country, build you a home
Plant a little garden, eat a lot of peaches
Try an find Jesus on your own
Well, I sat there at the table and I acted real naive
For I knew that topless lady had something up her sleeve
Well, she danced around the bar room and she did the hoochy-coo
Yeah she sang her song all night long, tellin' me what to do
Repeat chorus:
Well, I was young and hungry and about to leave that place
When just as I was leavin', well she looked me in the face
I said "You must know the answer."
"She said, "No but I'll give it a try."
And to this very day we've been livin' our way
And here is the reason why
We blew up our TV threw away our paper
Went to the country, built us a home
Had a lot of children, fed 'em on peaches
They all found Jesus on their ownLife itself is the proper binge. Julia Child

love both of those too!
Oh yes, the boxer! Used to sing along when no one was around. Think I'll go put it on. And I liked blow up the tv too. Never much of a watcher. Showing my age, the version I was listening to was from my favorite Joan Baez album, Diamonds and Rust. Here is whole song:
We had an apartment in the city,
Me and Loretta liked living there.
Well, it'd been years since the kids had grown,
A life of their own left us alone.
John and Linda live in Omaha,
And Joe is somewhere on the road.
We lost Davy in the Korean war,
And I still don't know what for, don't matter anymore.
Chorus:
Ya' know that old trees just grow stronger,
And old rivers grow wilder ev'ry day.
Old people just grow lonesome
Waiting for someone to say, "Hello in there, hello."
Me and Loretta, we don't talk much more,
She sits and stares through the back door screen.
And all the news just repeats itself
Like some forgotten dream that we've both seen.
Someday I'll go and call up Rudy,
We worked together at the factory.
But what could I say if asks "What's new?"
"Nothing, what's with you? Nothing much to do."
Repeat Chorus:
So if you're walking down the street sometime
And spot some hollow ancient eyes,
Please don't just pass 'em by and stare
As if you didn't care, say, "Hello in there, hello."
Morrison, I'm not sure I understood your cryptic answer. It was midnight on the west coast. We are having houseguests for 3 days so I won't be able to check in but look forward to seeing what is here when I get back! Please don't delete!

Stayed too long at the Fair by Bonnie Raitt
Or anything by Bonnie!
Jesus Christ wept & died I guess he went up to heaven
I been downtown such a long, long time
I'll never make it home
by seven
Wont'cha come & take me home
I've been too long at the fair
And Lord I just can't
stand it anymore
You can give my soul to Abraham
give my soul to song
Give my bones to Canada
my teeth aint no good at all
I don't know who made the highway
I guess that's just my pride
But I have heard the Prince of Darkness
On his charger ride...
I went down to Jason
walked till my feet got sore
But I never knew what laughin' was
Till you walked out the door
won't cha come & take me home...
Been too long at the Fair...The only thing worth stealing is a kiss...:flower: zwink:
