I vote for carrier pigeon and messengers with cleft sticks.

Took Sweetest Puppy for her walk. Great fun was had by all to a certain point. She came back half-brown - and it was not mud she'd rolled in.

Got the luvverly Jenz here after a hen night..............and she was in by midnight and wasn't all over the place.
