    Movies, Books, and Music

Movies, books, and music can help affirm (or re-affirm) our decision not to drink. An ongoing list could be useful for someone who needs a little boost. Please add your favorites!

    Movies
    Flight
    Crazy Heart
When a Man Loves a Woman

    Books
Drinking, A Love Story. Carolyn Knapp

    Music
Live Like You Were Dying. Tim McGraw
    The Other Side. Amanda Biggs
(I guess songs about dying make me remember how I want to live ).

    Cool thread, NS.

How about the album "Brainwashed" by George Harrison.

I forgot a movie that I really liked (although it is painful to watch): Saving Mr. Banks.

        Movie:Thanks for Sharing.
No matter how far you go or how fast you run, you can't get away from yourself. ....said at an AA meeting. It stuck with me.

          My favorite recovery song....

Last edited by abcowboy; November 16, 2014, 09:00 PM.
Quitting and staying quit isn't easy, its learning a whole new way of thinking. It's accepting a new way of life, and not just accepting it, embracing it...
Worry about tomorrow, tomorrow. Just get through today. Tomorrow will look after itself when it becomes today, because today is all we have to think about.
Friendship is not about how many friends you have or who you've known the longest. It's about who walked into your life, said "I'm here for you", and proved it.

You seem to be making rainbows around here, ABCowboy, and we really appreciate it.

I love his version of this song (and of What a Wonderful World).

I'm not much of a movie goer, and the book I'm reading at the moment (when I'm not
reading Lee Child or Terry Pratchett) is "Where Song Began: Australia's birds and how they changed the world" by Tim Low.
