Brilliant post Molls. Very poignant right now. Thank you for posting xxx

Had to go down town after work just to return one thing- the feckin traffic was mental. That was actually my first time in city centre this Christmas and will be last- did most shopping in the out of town centres- were ye don't pay for parking and there's much more space. Just after some grub -need to go do the 'ol DIY waxin and dying! Should be fun!

id rather be on my own than with just anybody thats for sure. but its not just for the day, its the whole time of it. the usual routine is changed to a massive long weekend, for over a week. not mine but the country. it is though, a time when you are supposed to see people. for a drink preferably. and mince pies.

Did yis see the wee woman somewhere in England who hosted a dinner for people who'd all be alone Christmas day like herself? Fair dues. As ye say Molls, it is just a day though. Do think there's too much emphasis on it and nearly always makes ye feel like yer family aint 'perfect' enough or summat. Think we had a discussion like this last year?

                  Hello, Dear Army,

Just popping in to wish everyone here a very Merry Christmas!! I am busily wrapping the last of my army of gifts for my big Catholic family, but just wanted to say hello and wish everyone well. All is well in Rustyland. No complaints, just a long Gratitude List this year. Life is very, very good. :-0)

                        Hi all,
Would just like to wish you all a very Happy and sober Christmas.

Although I am not on as much as I was, I ll always be grateful to you all here.

Finding it quite tough at the moment but I know its because of the time of year.
I need to get a lot of AA meetings to keep me sober and it seems to be working.
6 months AF on Christmas Day hopefully.

MWO has definitely given me the tools to help me get this far.

                        Hope you are all well

Evening army hi to rusty and Sweetie and of coarse everyone else. Well done Damo on reaching 6 months well just 48 hrs or so away from half a year. Yes it is a difficult time so much emphasis on food drink family gifts etc. I know how you feel Roxy as i'm in the same boat I know i'm going to my sister and then we g oto another sister's house bout 6pm but that will be the difficult part as there will be more drinking and everyone will have a few by then but I plan to go say hello for about an hour and leave. I said I would call in to a neighbour for an hr after that and she will have a few drinks as she said she got a few in. She's staying on her own this year and she invited me but she knows i'm not drinking so it will be something non al for me. I was over there today and she had another nice neighbour and they wine as an xmas drink and I had non al rock shandy. I was ok with that and so far no desire to drink but always have to be vigilent this early on. Wasn't counting days but had to check dates for bin collection and it seems I was 30 days( for the 100th time lol) today. AA isa help as this site alone would not be enough for me and so far I managed 2 meetings a week I would go more and will it cos I wasn't feeling well some days/evenings to go out but so far so good. Great post earlier Molly I could not have said it better. I'm just treating as a day a dinner with family to go to and that will be nice to see my nieces nephews and their kids and my sisters. My bro and wife have other plans but will see them at a later stage. They are Jehovah's witnesses as is their older son and wife and don't celebrate Christmas which is great lol. Yes it is a lonely time for a lot of people but it is just a day and a very commerical holiday but as long as I stay sober that's my gift to myself and a cause to celebrate. Jaysus I nearly wrote a short story blog here lol. Better stop and catch me breath lol. Oh had a nana nap earlier must be a tiring time of year.osteroops::happy2:

                              Good morning army folk.
Well, it's 9:15 am Christmas Eve here.
I've just finished painting a set of bookshelves and now I'm off to ALDI to check out the pizza ovens they advertised on tv last night.
Then back home, make a paschka for tomorrow.
Then I'm all done except make an olive tatrt to9morrow morning along with a couple of salads then up to Sydney for lunch with 3 good mates.
I belive that prawns, oysters, ham and turkey will figure largely in the lunch.

If I don't get on MWO tomorrow, I wish you all a safe, happy and peaceful Christmas.

Thinking of the families of those poor people killed in Glasgow.
What a solemn Christmas for them.
