the DANGER of casualness re. alcohol to problem drinkers/alcoholics imo is immense...... I was reading a big long article about a well known architect here in Ireland --- 7/8's of the article was him describing his 'battle' with the drink over many many years - the damage he had done to his partner -- including violence even...... THEN --- tail end of article he (and I paraphrase - can't directly quote without looking for article again) said he does have a glass or two of wine with a special dinner now and again but he and his friends are aware he's an alcoholic so it will never be more than that.............................................. ................... DING DONG ---- this alcoholic for a 'stopped' period of time went 'WOW' ------ then realised the tosh that was --- the delusionment...... but fuck...............................

Hi Molly, I couldnt agree more. I think this is whats different this time round for me, I dont think I ever really gave up on the thought that I could have say, the odd glass of wine with dinner at some point in the future. I now know this is pie in the sky.

Has anyone read 'Under The Influence' by Milam & Ketcham? I have only read excepts online but its fascinating stuff, insights into how AL effects 'us' differently.

Who've you grabbed today to hold the step ladders?

she offered, but i think i can do it on my own now. undercoat slapped on, doing the proper coat will take more concentration and annoyance that it looks crap because its gone on patchy and ive hit the telescopic extension onto the bannisters and got paint on the one bit of carpet that i havent covered then found the bit i have covered has paint on it too and i only find out because i trod in it and walked it onto the floor.

dont think im in the right frame of mind to do any of it today.............
