Back to much colder weather and we caught in the rain getting off Aircoach and we were drowned rats getting in to the taxi to get home. We had a ball in Phuket,t Thailand but its great to be home. Missed my cats lol. I did my first 2 week holiday af free I can't believe it so no going back I just can go back to drinking like I was. I know its still early and will be tough as it was at times but i'll be on ab for another while and will go to regular AA meetings. The final plane jorney was tough al wise from Dubai to Dublin. It was 7and halfr hours long and the craving for a glass of complimentary wine or beer was strong and people around me making the most of the free drinks tho I didn't see anyone going mad or drunk. But it was uncomfortable and I could n't sleep. Every seat had there own built in mini tv and plenty movies games etc but speaker quality wasn't great at times but it helped plus I bought a book at Dubai airport. The craving lasted till I got home and I was so temnpted to go to local offie once i got home but I had coffee and I rode it out and it passed. I kept asking my higher power for help and it worked. So today is another day and lots of washing to get done and other things lol. First lot on and then food shopping later. Still adjusting to Irish time. Slept a lot since 6pm and awake at just after 6am this morning. Any happy Wednesday and have a good one.
That's it now YOU'VE DONE IT !!!!!!!!! :yay:

Well done Glitzy how well I remember those long flights without al when nearly everyone is having a drink! Also remember the feeling of achievement and pride when I arrived at my destination not smelling of gin or wine!!!
Hello everyone else.
It's the thinking it 'through to the end' that knocks that 'voice' on the head for me..every time.
And yes that PRIDE at the end of the flight is priceless ......

Thanks for the welcome, yes the thinking it through the end works great, until you've done it for days in a row and then just have an attitude and not really caring at the time, thinking you'll have fun tonight and deal with the aftermath later,I hate when my thinking takes that turn, and the drinking is NEVER fun for me anymore, the recovery is horrendous, nothing but wasted time, money, broken promises to myself that shake my faith that I'll ever be quit for good,I just need something, not sure what it isI have too much shit to do today and tomorrow to drink:sohappy:
I'm taking care of the "tomorrow me"
Drinkin won't help a damn thing! Will only make me sick for DAYS and that ugly, spacey dumb feeling-no thanks!

Hello Army - Rusty said that this was the place to be.
Pauly - Thanks for putting it into words. That is exactly how it has been for me for the past year!
Waving wildly to everyone. Have a fantastic day/evening."Only I can change my life. No one can do it for me.".....Carol Burnett

when i had cravings like that pauly, i would think 'ok i may drink, someday. but not today'. do you think the thought of forever is making it harder for you? once i got a good bit of time in i was buggered if i was going to chuck it away on a kneejerk decision. that urge craving need want fuck it feeling does dim get less quieten become less frequent the longer time you have af.
so, play it through eat hop on the spot sing scream. anything but drink. yes, its white knuckling the craving. its not white knuckling the want to drink. that is different.
eta; hi nora.
