    Coming back for another try

    Hi Friends,
Several years ago I made many friends on this site. Some of them I met in real life and some I got know by their humor and tough love. I joined in 2007. I've tried so many programs, so many "experimental" drugs but yet I am still not sober. I'm not destitute, I still hold it all together out there. But, I need and want to be to done Anyway, I wanted to come back. There have been some changes here, lol!

    xoxo

Hi Shelby and welcome back. Yes i get the "holding it together" bit and i finally realised i didnt want to do that anymore so i came back also nearly 2 years ago. The best decision I ever made as sober is the best, getting there is hard but anything worthwhile takes dedication and effort. I'm still making the effort by checking in and reading daily, i dont want to repeat what I did for 20 years. I am healthier, i am happier and i am finally free of al.

Lots has changed on the site but the majority of us share the same goal of being af. For me just not drinking saves any mental struggles.

Hope to see you around SS. You can do this.

Welcome back Shelby! Yes, there have been many changes to MWO, hopefully you'll find them new and improved, and we'd all like to help you find the new and improved Shelby!
Quitting and staying quit isn't easy, its learning a whole new way of thinking. It's accepting a new way of life, and not just accepting it, embracing it...
Worry about tomorrow, tomorrow. Just get through today. Tomorrow will look after itself when it becomes today, because today is all we have to think about.
Friendship is not about how many friends you have or who you've known the longest. It's about who walked into your life, said "I'm here for you", and proved it.

ShelbySmiles, we are both slow learners, it took me awhile but I'm done for good now. Welcome back!
My life is better without alcohol, since 9/1/12. My sobriety tool is the list at permalink 236 on the toolbox thread under monthly abstinance.

Sunbeam-slow learner is a perfect description
I will be checking in daily and reaching out for help. I've tried to do this on my own for too long.

              Hi Shelby,

I remember you too. I changed my name when the site wouldn't let me in using my old one (after the move) but it was a serendipitous error as that same day I decided I was All Done Drinking after 7 years of trying really, really hard to moderate. You may remember me as Eve11. I am now Addy. (All Done Drinking...Yes!)

              Welcome home.

              Addy

Hi Shelby. Welcome back, me too a repeat offender but starting again and now half way through my 2nd week. Feeling really proud to have got this far, but always on the watch for that evil little voice that calls me back. Stay busy, get a substitute drink, focus on having fun as much as possible. Good luck!
Allen Carr’s book changed everything for me. The easyway to control alcohol. Highly recommended

Shelby - isn't it amazing to wake up like that? For the past month, I had been waking up with shakes! What a relief that I am not doing that to myself anymore.

                            Welcome back Shelby,

quitting is a tough journey, but it all starts with those baby steps, and if you stumble, tomorrow is always a new day.

I wish you well on your journey, hang in there and just don't quit quitting! You can and will get there.

We are rooting for you......each day just gets better.

I had PAWS really badly, but once I had a plan to deal with that too, it can and does get wonderfully better.

Buckle up honey, its worth the ride!!

We are all here for you for support and to lean on. Wish you all the best, you can slay this beastie!!
