    Everything Self Help

    Hey Everyone :happy2:

I am not sure if there is a thread like this on here but I decided to start an "everything self help" thread. A place where we can share articles, blog posts, pod casts, books, movies and shows about alcoholism and ESP recovery and sobriety.
Not only that but also resources that helped you IN your recovery such as self help books, podcasts or CDs on meditation or spirituality.
Anything and everything that has helped YOU in your recovery that might help others.

    Let me start!

I started reading this blog and this post I read is so true!

Another site with awesome articles is Spiritual River.

There is more where that came from but want to make sure there isn't a thread like this. It might be a newbies nest type thing but thought that maybe this thread could be a go-to resource type thing. If not, then I can totally delete this and go where to the appropriate thread.

    Bri.

    Bri,

This is a great idea and I will definitely keep it in mind to help post helpful things here. I joined a couple of websites that are supposed to share some info so will gladly contribute when able.

Thanks for starting this Bri I found those 2 blogs very helpful and I have bookmarked unpickled. I will add anything I find helpful.

The toolbox thread under monthly abstinence has lots of resources, but it can't hurt to post things here you currently find useful. The list referenced in my signature line is what helped me stay on track in my early months.
My life is better without alcohol, since 9/1/12. My sobriety tool is the list at permalink 236 on the toolbox thread under monthly abstinance.

Here are some links you might find useful, Bri.
I've read much of Unpickled's blog and really liked it and was helped by it.

Sorry NS. Had no idea this was done already. I guess everyone can just go to the link that you sent. Thanks for sharing and I'll be sure to check it out.

It came up in the Newbies Nest that it would be nice to have one place to store links to online videos, podcasts, movies, articles, etc. that we've found helpful. If this turns out to be a useful repository of links, perhaps we can ask RJ to consider making it a Sticky. Contributions welcome :happy2:!

Thanks everyone for contributing as well.

I still think there's use for this thread Bri,perhaps people can post little hints at what's been helping,I think my exercise and feeling like my body is strong is a big help, also amino and vitamin shakes, when I slack on those I tend to get the F-its
I have too much shit to do today and tomorrow to drink:sohappy:

I'm taking care of the "tomorrow me"
Drinkin won't help a damn thing! Will only make me sick for DAYS and that ugly, spacey dumb feeling-no thanks!

I think you should keep this thread going! The other one isn't very active so I was just adding the link to what I hope will be a more popular thread !

I really like the AWARE relapse questionnaire (an attempt at trying to see how close you might be to a relapse) that is buried in one of the unpickled links - I don't think I had ever seen that before - it is supposed to have been found to be a good predictor of the occurrence of relapse - so if you're worried or just want to know where you are in these areas it could definitely be helpful and eye opening for folks to be more vigilant! Here it is directly:

Pauly - I completely agree, if I eat like crap, I feel like crap and then those creeper AL thoughts try to pop in. So for me, it's important to eat well and exercise too. Even if it is just heading out for a walk with the pups.

Oh ok, NS, sorry. I misunderstood! But thank you for the link! I am going to peruse this tonight with my tea.

Thank you Frances for sharing the link! I am definitely going to print this off and look back on it any time I begin to feel iffy or complacent I think this questionnaire will definitely help a lot of people!
