Rachel, you know your body better than anyone listen to it. Maybe get a field of medical test to check everything out. Have you read MWO book. very useful. Just start trying, small steps. It's not easy but it can be done.
    All the best

      :welcome: Rachel.
Keep coming back here and posting and reading.
We are ALL a work in progress.....think baby steps.

Do you have the book and the cd's?

Try to do a water in between drinks.

You heartburn is probably acid reflux and the alcohol and fruit juice irritates it.

Also your muscle at the top of your tummy relaxes with alcohol and lets your stomach acid seep back up in your throat.

Your tummy will only hold so much and when we over drink (anything) or overeat, it pushes back up and is reflux.

Keep doing something small (goals) (write them down)and working on this.

Good for you Rachel. My body did weird things for a while too and I also got heartburn. I did not even think it was related until you said that! I took antiacids for several days. Best of luck and please get medical help if needed for the withdrawal. Look forward to seeing you - you have a good sense of humor.

I used to get terrible heartburn when I'd really been overdoing the drinking. Even swallowing wine would hurt.
Maybe try sipping the water slowly. You don't need to drink as much water as you are managing beer. The beer dehydrates so you drink more in the hope of hydration. Water does hydrate so you need less.
I agree with sups to help replace vits and minerals you are loosing through drinking.
And keep coming back here, you can do it.

Like you, I get terrible heartburn when I drink water, especially at night. I wake up dehydrated, drink some water and then end up sitting up for the rest of the night to stop the acid reflux. And yet I still keep drinking..........!! I know what you mean about the doctor - I'm afraid to go and admit my problem incase people judge me as an unfit mother.... Like you, I would never neglect my kids. Maybe it would be a good idea to get some tests done. Just think, you might be beating yourself up thinking there is something wrong with you when tests would show that you're actually OK. Wouldn't that give you peace of mind to start tackling your drinking? Good luck, keep your chin up and keep us posted on how things are going :l

                          Hi, and welcome!

I keep a bottle of water, a big one by my bed, and always make sure it's full before I go to bed.

When I wake up dehydrated, I take a big long drink, and keep doing so through the night as I need it.

Even if I haven't been drinking, my water is my security, I know I'll be ok in the mornimg with it, I love my water bottle! And yes, I have to get up to pee sometimes, But I feel like I'm flushing the bad shit out of me.

Hope this helps, just like you, I'm having good days and bad, but learning to love my poor little body, and to give it what it needs.

Lot's of love andf hope to you, love Jas
