    Let's Kick Each Other's Butts!

Can you believe that it took me a few minutes to figure out how to correctly spell "each other"..lol. Sometimes in my head I feel like it's one word...

    ANYWAYS!!

Over at the Umpteenth Quit thread we've been talking a lot about weight loss, food, exercise, etc - among other things....I thought that it might be a good idea to make up a thread that strictly focuses (okay, not STRICTLY) on diet, health and fitness.

We can share what we are doing, what works for us, what doesn't, meals, meal plans, regimes, types of exercises, weight loss goals, weight loss plateau's...what we weigh now and what we would like to reach re: weight.

    So I can start...
I'm 5'5" - weighed in 160lbs just over two weeks ago when I quit drinking. Weighing in today at 154lbs (I'm rounding up here).
When I quit drinking last year, I was up to 180lbs...and was sober for nearly 8 months...and lost 50lbs. Began drinking again and gained 30...so I'm back at it...and want to get into the best shape possible!

Really hoping we can motivate one another here. I am thinking it's possible, since we do such a great job of it over at other threads.

    Bri.

I'm in very interested in people's food journals for the day and activities, although I did eat a donut and bacon, egg, cheese biscuit already however I'm thinking I can get better food choices from other people's diets
I have too much shit to do today and tomorrow to drink:sohappy:

I'm taking care of the "tomorrow me"
Drinkin won't help a damn thing! Will only make me sick for DAYS and that ugly, spacey dumb feeling-no thanks!

Ten pounds will be easy peasy for you Paulywogg!
Just the nutrition you gotta get in order.
I weighed in and went back up to 155lbs. Frustrating to say the least. I have *feelings* of giving up but know I never will.
I uploaded a "before" picture to a contest a few weeks ago. I have to try and kick some butt somehow without saying "eff it"!
Anyways, I think I know my problem. Salt intake (water retention) and maybe not eating enough calories so I am thinking my body may be in shock after cutting ALL the crap out and now eating 1/4 of the calories I usually did.
It's only week three and I guess at this point five pounds is OK too but wish it all would disappear. Lol. I woke up late so couldn't get my AM smoothie in, sitting at work with a coffee (need to cut that out), 1 cup of grapefruit and a large salad with shrimp for lunch.
We will see how this day goes.
What I really wanted was a chocolate chip muffin. Lol.
Until I saw it had 450 calories!!! :'( WAHHH.

Here I am. I am 5'4". Now weigh 113.6; was up to 121 not that long ago. I follow Intermittent Fasting (IF). Started with F-5 and am now doing ADF. Alternate Day Fasting. Original goal was 112, then lowered it to 110 & then struggled. After vaca was almost 116.
As soon as I said 112 is good enough, weight started dropping again. I use wts, Run/walk and play golf, some biking.
Today is a Down Day(DD). 500 calories although I allow fruits & veggies as freebies so not as unhealthy as you might think. Then tomorrow I eat normally. Should eat 1800 or so but that is so not normal for me so struggle more with UD than DD.
            Hope not TMI.
Yest I did not drink and today I will not drink.

I'm 5 6 and 160, I don't really want to lose weight as much as lose an inch off my waist. If I could maintain my strength and get down to the 140s it would make competing much easier. I need to cut the ice cream and add a mandatory jog with the dogs everyday, bleh.

                Hi there
This is just what I need, a good butt kicking. I have been trying to quit drinking for some time now. I have done reasonably well over the summer but slipped for the past 4 days. I am back on track today and taking my Antibuse. Need a good butt kicking to do that.
I have been gaining a bit of weight over the past few months so I need to get rid of about 10 lbs. I am pretty active already so it is hard for me to lose. I just bought a fit bit hr and it logs calories burned, steps, activity and heart rate. I am thinking it will give me a better idea of what I am burning vs taking in on a daily basis.
I really need to clean up my diet as well. We eat pretty healthy but I have been getting into the potatoe chips and they are as deadly as the AL.
Love this thread. Thanks Briseus for starting it.

I am 5ft 8ins, 142lbs. Want to lose 10lbs.....it is my comfortable weight. I have clothes that I need to fit back into.
Doing better this past month with exercise than I have all year.....gonna be a challenge fitting it in after next week when we are back to childminding full time, so good to be accountable here.

You would figure that 10 lbs would be easy to lose, especially after cutting out 1400 calories,of beer, hhowever not being able to taste food or even eat some days for years, sobriety kinda brings on a passion for food that I haven't been able to enjoy, but I do.need to get rid of this crap gut, everywhere else is pretty normal, but I'm not happy with this part, got 17,000 steps today and 90 active minutes, watched diet pretty good, but snuck in 1/2 a donut,oh and 6 dark chocolate almonds
I have too much shit to do today and tomorrow to drink:sohappy:

Holy moly, you guys are all skinny minny's!!
Eloise - congrats on losing 11 kilos! That's amazing! How did you do it? Even if it did take a while?
Slow and steady wins the race, right?

TMH - thanks for sharing! The intermittent fasting sounds like an interesting concept and I have read on it before for school.
I have heard and read as well that we should do a detox of sorts once a month of strictly liquids (like smoothies) for a few days to give our digestive tracts a rest. How do you feel on 500 cal days and does your mood change? How long have you been doing IF for?

Hahah Dutch, exercise in general can be bleh! Lol. Can you try other things other then jogging that you might prefer or enjoy more? Also, measuring instead of looking at the scale is a lot more accurate. But I don't know why I can't seem to get away from that scale!

Welcome R4L and no problem! )
Definitely thought that a thread like this would be helpful! And yes, those damn chips can be quite deadly!! Lol!
How are you liking the Fitbit?? I have been thinking of getting one but haven't been able to convince myself to do so...let me know your thoughts on it! I think you might be able to convince me to buy one! Congrats on your Day 1 too!
How does your diet look too, mostly clean?

Daisy - I think taking care of kids can be a workout on it's own! And I definitely have some clothes myself that I would like to fit back into...believe it or not, I recently bought a pair of chews like, 5 sizes too small...so that is my goal (and the jeans were only $6...half price of a bottle of wine and loaded with motivation and not destruction).

Pauly - 1/2 a donut and six choco almonds is A-OK!! I guess we gotta look at the bigger picture...but I totally get what you're saying. I, on the other hand, was an all or nothing person. I never did NOT eat...I drank like a damn fish and I ate like a rhino...
When I quit drinking last year I dropped weight fairly quickly - this time it's proving difficult and it's frustrating as all hell.

                      SO!!!
I weighed in...super pissed as you all know...but it held me accountable to eat pretty good...
Now I must admit, I don't eat breakfast ( I HATE BREAKFAST!! ) but for me, it always worked...I can't remember when I ate brekkie on a consistent basis and a lot of my school books say that breakfast isn't essential (but we won't get into that, because there are two sides to every coin).
I ate salad and shrimp for lunch, grapefruit...then I had this super disgusting protein bar...
I did 30 minutes cardio (elliptical) and 20 minutes upper body weight lifting.
And then I bought a GAWDDAMN REESE'S PEANUT BUTTER CUP CHOCOLATE BAR!!!
                      Don't ask me why...
Let's pretend I never said that.
But that chocolate will be in my belly by the end of the night, guaranteed...
                      Oh, and it's white chocolate...

How is everyone else doing? I'm going to see if I can share some interesting tidbits on here too re: nutrition and exercise...everyone should feel free to share what they know too.
Sorry, this is super long. I'll shaddup now!

I was just going to say something about the 17,000 steps but totally forgot - and that was, that that is pretty amazing! I always try to just get 10,000 and have a hard time. Lol.
I just sat here and read your post Pauly and forgot I had Reese's. Hahah. Why, scatterbrained here...not I want to eat it but it's too late!!! :'( WAHH!
Pauly - do you have an iPhone? What colour Fitbit do you have? Lol. Random question, I know..
