    I hear you, Happs.
Part of the reason that I stepped back a bit.
If your 8 year old self met you, would they be proud?

Reg I would LOVE to hear about your favourite reads.
I'm all over reading at the mo.
Decided to re-read all of my HSC texts to see if age has given me a different perspective.
Would love to know what you found influential.

Deadly serious, I would love that. Spend a lot of time on Best Reads etc these days looking for inspiration.

Wow - I didn't think my PMs fell into that category but apparently so

Glassy apparently you want to make this all about you. This was a general comment. Take it as you will.

I'm tired of this. Off to bed.

OK - I'll remove myself and let you all get back to how you were.

But I do find it funny that if you all hate PM's so much, so many people were happy to PM me when they needed professional advice. And I was happy to give it to them. And still am.
                Bye

I have never PM'd you to ask your advice - either personal - I've only met you once - or professional - I don't even remember what it is you do for a living. You did PM me to offer assistance which I declined - thankfully. Friendship and the gifts it brings are something that people should offer and give without thought of continually getting back or of having their ego stroked. My thoughts.

My comment on PM's was actually a light hearted dig at Reg - in the spirit of the Undies thread - where I come to blow off the cobwebs in my brain and just generally have some light heartedness from what can be a hard day.

Two words for you Glassy. GROW UP. Or even more words, since the word count police will have my arse anyway, SEEK HELP.

Stay at the frog house with the roos..is my recommendation.
Reggie ... you are spot-on! I tried a tentative foray and dipped my toes into the murky waters of "the city". Stayed with some friends and yep - it was great to be in a brand new house where everything worked with an endless supply of water and heating at the flick of a switch but fusk me rigid - there was NO backyard only a tiny outdoor area big enough for a table and four chairs and a narrow strip which housed a clothes line. There were no horizons, anywhere. Admittedly, it was in Point Cook which isn't known for anything nice but I certainly couldn't afford to buy in your neck of the woods or anywhere else near water. So ... I reckon I'll hang with the roos for a bit longer.

                        No, its not ... it's a bird .... it's a plane ......

                        ..... it's superman!!! (super bird?)

Tawny - I've been waiting for the jacarandas to flower. Last year it was 1 September on the dot, but this year they are a bit slow. I'm only just starting to get to know grevillias - not a plant that we have in NZ.

I came to this site to find help with my struggle with alcohol. That is all I want from it. Having said that: Rags was so very thoughtful and helpful when I landed in Sydney, Glassy you helped me enormously (through PM) when I was going through my employment traumas over the past 2 years; Nicey took me in for a weekend when I was at a point when I just needed a good kick up the pants. And I got Angel to make our wedding togs because I am so intimidated by clothes and fashion that I just couldn't bear the thought of having to sort out something on a commercial basis.

There are commonalities amongst us, but it is a bit like a Venn diagram - Glassy for you and I it is a professional interest; for others it is that we are in a geographical location that makes it easy to be in touch; and sometimes it is just that we are going through similar sorts of shit at the same time. I have some interest in music; but nowhere near as much as G and Reggie; and I have absolutely no interest in foodie-ism. And I'm not witty, nor do I have an interest in art or poetry ...... but I do try to understand what people are trying to say when they post with an open soul.

I'm highly political and I'm a NZer. Sometimes I feel like an outsider on the Undies as well, because of that. Mostly I pull my punches (but please, the jokes about fush and chups grow stale pretty quickly) , and remember that I'm here for a specific reason. I'm not here to make friends or to debate politics ...... but I have learned an enormous amount from other Undie's struggles; and successes; and it has really helped me to stay on track, and get back on track when I relapse.

I may regret this post. But I not think that the Undies were ever a "club" ..... quite the reverse. It is always a great place to get support ... from the days when it was called "The Next Day .... " thread until today. I have walked away from it several times and continue to come back. You people have seen me through several very dark times; the illness of my mother and two siblings; and some incredibly difficult personal circumstances. In the end, I think my life has been much enriched by your presence.

But as much as I care for you all,you aren't my bosom buddies or my family! I share as much as I feel comfortable with, but there is quite a lots of other stuff that I keep private.

I could go on and on!! But I guess in the end I see MWO as a therapeutic intervention more than anything else. We can have fun and social interactions along the way, but part of the therapy is getting over our negative patterns of behaviour from the past and moving forward.

I've said my piece and happy to take constructive criticism :-)

You'll get no criticism from me. Thoughtful calm post Missy.

Love the Eagle, always turns up when you need him.

Tawny, the Lamp and I were out for our walk the other night and rounded a corner, there was a tawny frogmouth on the rail near the creek. I yelled...it scared the daylights out of me. It just flew up into the tree and watched while we made our way along the path. Magic.
