Mama, the rehab gig was two years ago. I think rehabs are not necessary if one really wants to quit. At the time, I did it to placate Mrs. Fen. I hated it! My roomie was a hard core meth and other drug user who was given a free pass out of prison if she could complete the six weeks there. She was constantly blaring her crappy music and she took over the entire room with all of her crap.

Sorry about your co-worker, Liz. If she calls in frequently, why is she still employed? That gets annoying!
Thanks for your kind words, Nora. It's so daunting to think of going to school surrounded by kids- and I wonder how well I'll do with my older brain. Then, having been out of the work force for ten years, I have to find a job. Just yuck. I can't imagine how long it will take me to get to the point where I can think on Mrs. Fen kindly, much less make an amends to her.

Yah, I'm gonna have to go back to school, but I'm anxious over it. All the other kids are young and smart, LOL. I worry that I won't do well. No use worrying, right?

Hi Friends,
I am happily at home....feels so good to be here because it's supposed to be nice today-mid-70s and sunny!
Fen-I so appreciate you sharing about your experience at rehab. I know my aunt who had 3 stints in rehab and never quit drinking just went to get her family off her back...that's why she would stop off at the liquor store as soon as she was done with rehab. Fenny, when you talk about your experience in rehab, that movie, "28 Days" with Sandra Bullock pops into my head. Sandra Bullock's roommate in rehab is a heroin addict and kind of a goof. I think you will do well in school because you are committed...you really are. I will bet you will find older students in your classes and not just kids. What fields are you interested in? I'd bet you would make a fabulous nurse! You are so kind and patient with your mom.
Mama-your boss is in for a surprise when she gets back from her vacation...I see a possible mutiny!
Nora-I love your upbeat posts! :-)
Liz-why doesn't your boss fire that co-worker who constantly calls in??? So sorry you had to give up a well-deserved day off and cover for her.
Hi to Pauly, Dottie, ABC, FT, and anyone else who pops in...Happy Wednesday/Hump Day!

I agree Fen,so many times on " intervention"you'll see them check in on the person and they seem great while still in rehab then the update will tell of a relapse when they get back into their old life I like the episodes where they stay quit, one lady on there went on to be an addiction counselor and she was a bad drunk on the show! Good for her but like you said we have to want it,yeah it should have been a red flag when exmMrs Fen skipped the classes,oh well hindsightI have too much shit to do today and tomorrow to drink:sohappy:

Just settling down after a long day. As predicted, Anne did call in sick again for tomorrow and Friday. Oh well.
Rusty glad you had a beautiful day off. Still super steamy here. Hoping for some rain tomorrow.
Fen, did ex mrs fen require you to attend rehab? I think it's great you are pursing a career. It this something you have wanted to do or you need to do?
FT sorry you aren't feeling great. Hopefully it's short lived.
Pauly, Dottie Nora mama and anyone else is missed, hello. Have a good night guys.

So sorry you're stuck doing extra work, Liz. Why on earth does your co-worker get away with that?
Oh, I forgot to say, Rusty...I have done so much care-giver work in my life...years of work on the Dialysis unit, years of caring for Mrs. Fen's folks (her mom with her knee replacement, her dad dying of prostate cancer three years ago) and my own mom (ongoing for the last six years), I am completely burned out. I would rather open an artery than become a nurse at this point, and I don't think I will change my mind. I am too much of an empath. It's soul draining now.
I wish I could have an active job, like mail delivery- but snail mail is going away. Park rangers don't make much at all, so that's out of the question.
