One Step at a Time - October 2015

Ok - so you know how we're going thru all this stuff (I know, I know - I'm a borderline hoarder). Anyway, came across this and thought everyone would appreciate what a dork I was and still am.

I've narrowed this down to around 1972 - age 13-14. The radio station had a long weekend playing the top 100 songs. There I was with my little casio tape recorder holding the microphone up to the speaker to record the songs I wanted. Later my Uncle came by and brought me a plug in connection so that was better. I didn't have to sit there very quietly holding my arm out. LOL

I remember those days! I love the "Peanuts" sticker on your notebook...

My mom's cousin is in the hospital, really ill from colon cancer. I told mom I would take her to visit her cousin tomorrow or Sunday. I think this may be it for cousin Dort. :sad:

Happy Halloween

I still have a bunch of my 45's. We just were going thru all our old albums to get rid of. Sonny & Cher, Simon & Garfunkel, Billy Joel, Credence Clear Water, Crosby, Stills and Nash, Jimi Hendrix, Bette Midler and on & on. From classical to hard rock. It's sad to get rid of them.

We made a run to The Dollar Tree and got some more eyeball bubble gum. We have little bags of Halloween pretzels that we are giving out. But, in case we run out, I wanted something else. Sonny & his GF carved their pumpkins last night because they are working tonight.
Fen, have you carved your pumpkins yet? I know that you always carve them with your friends.

I wrote a character witness letter for my son and my girlfriend also did and I sent those to his lawyer. The last we heard was that the prosecutor had been changed and that son's lawyer was trying to get in touch with the prosecutor. This could be good or this could be bad.

Did I tell you that we are going to see Jeff Daniels tomorrow night? He is not only an actor but he is a great songwriter and musician. I have been watching for years for him to be on this side of the country. He is from Michigan, so he performs in that area and East quite a bit. I had wanted to see his one man show but he is performing with his sons band 'The Ben Daniels Band'. Hubby and I have been looking forward to it. I got an e-mail yesterday and we can bring two guests for free. So, son and his gf are going too.

Uff-dah! Back from Dodgeville. Yes, Nora...I took mom to see her today. She's been in the hospital for a week and nobody told us! Apparently she was acting loopy last week, so her son who goes over to her place everyday called one of his sisters and she came down to see what was up. When they got Dorothy on her feet, a mass of suppurating fluid shot out of a wound in her belly! There is a cancerous mass in a lymph node that is necrotizing and caused a wound from the inside to the outside.

Dort has been on heavy antibiotics and still seems pretty loopy to me. She wants to go back home, but she really can't. She is adamantly opposed to a nursing home, but daughter is telling her it's for rehab. Not sure how much longer this can go on, that's why I got mom out there as quickly as I could.

Pauly, your costumes sound cute! I wish I could go trick or treating.

Nora, I'm glad you guys carved pumpkins. My life has been so crazy these days and what with taking mom out to see her cuz, B and I are not carving pumpkins this year. : (

I hope that everybody has a safe and happy Halloween.

Oh, Pauly...I forgot to tell you- I heard that a study was done on which city would survive a zombie apocalypse and Las Vegas came in dead last...LOL! Of course, my town wasn't even big enough to be in the study, but Milwaukee was and they didn't come in very high, either.

No - I think you are thinking of Charlie Daniels. This is Jeff Daniels - he was in Dumb & Dumber, Arachnophobia. I think he stars in a show on HBO called Newsroom?

That was hilarious about the zombie apocalypse. In the books and movies, Vegas seemed like the perfect place. I wonder where Los Angeles came in? :rotlf:

Fen - that is sad about your Mom's cousin. It just doesn't sound good for her. (I was reading back and realized that I said him earlier. Sorry - didn't even notice when I typed it.) I'm glad that you took your Mom though but glad that you didn't let her stay & stay.
I'm really sorry that you are not doing pumpkins. :hug: You are going thru such a hard time now. I love you friend....
