    Acute withdrawal and sexual thoughts

    Errrrmmmm....Errrrrmmmm...shuffle...

I really really hope this doesn't offend but I looked and looked and have found absolutely nothing in terms of research about this, so....in the spirit of openness and frank discussion which may lead to increased understanding of acute alcohol withdrawal....

I have undergone acute alcohol withdrawal 3 times now and each time there has been a stage where I have become abnormally horny. Has anyone else experienced this? Usually during the tremors and anxiety stage.

I hope nobody is offended by this question.

I was just wondering if it is common. It is a bit weird to talk about tbh but if I can't talk about it here etc. It's not something I'm worried about, just seems to be a very distinct pattern (for me) that has happened every time. Like Rox says, maybe it is tension release, but it is very different from my normal internal sexual world.

Mind you, so is everything when you're withdrawing. I suppose the best I can explain without getting too explicit and being the fine gentleman with an enquiring mind what I am is that...oh fuck it, I'm just going to say it...when I'm (was) pissed, my inhibitons go awol as we all know they do, but doing anything about it physically is problematic. When I'm withdrawing, there is a phase, as I said, in the first day or two, where I think about things I'd never usually think about and my body reacts in a hyper excited state every hour or two.

I think I just answered my own question. I'm thinking it's all part of the gaba fuckwittery.

It's just a side effect (for me) that never, ever gets mentioned (understandable) but I thought I'd put it out there. (Badoom-TISH before anyone else does....)

I don't plan to see if it happens again by the way...but hey. To be honest, it isn't pleasurable at all and adds to the feeling that one is a squalid, dirty deviant scumbag adding to the already devastating emotional cost that comes with withdrawal, which is why I am bringing it up. I can see why it would be a taboo part of the withdrawal process.

Or maybe I AM a squalid, dirty deviant scumbag!

There. I think I did that quite well. *mops brow*

Alcohol is an anaesthetic which dampens the nervous system, I would guess when it's released, the whole system fires up again - which is where the shakes come from. My logic says it could also make everything else exciteable.
I used the Sinclair Method to beat my alcoholic drinking.

No need to bring rabbits into this.

                              Shambles -what a great-funny-serious thread:

Often times, libido does surge as a direct result of the removal of the said drug of choice. The brain looks for any way that it can to release dopamine/serotonin -the brain is still looking for a high and it is not interested in logic -lol, but true.
