so...my hubby and I decided to have a tomatoe growing competition. We brought 3 plants each and planted them in growbags.

I decided to cheat and add Nitrogen fertiliser to my 3...

The leaves shrivelled up - and went brown...one plant no longer has any leaves!

I have purchased 3 more plants that I intend to plant straight out in the garden tommorrow.

Any one give me some tips - to grow the JUCIEST TOMATOES PLEASE XXX (hubby is very competitive!)

My dad used to take me to his allotment when i was a kid and used to rattle his tomato plants with a bamboo to wake them up, then he used to talk to them. I thought he was mad. Apparently Prince charles does this too

tomatoes like lots of water, warmth, and good light. and yes the miracle grow stuff really works.

Buy some organically grown tomatoes at the supermarket and stick them on another plant with duct tape. that always works for me.

You need to pinch out the side shoots. How to explain? Each plant has a main stalk with leaf stalks going off sideways, in the place were they join each other a new stalk grows, this needs to be pinched out. Don't pinch off the stalks with flowers or the top. If it starts to grow new shoots from the base they can be pinched out too.
