Hello Steppers - haven't caught up with everything yet. I hope that everyone had a wonderful day. I need some of your sqwerl porn too, Fen.
Spent all day in ER yesterday. Mom passed out yesterday morning. She had been so confused and woozy. I had got her to go lay down but then she got up and just was insisting to take a shower. Well, I don't have a shower chair yet. So, I had told her to skip it for yesterday and that we would do it today. Well, she went to the bathroom and I was just standing by the door. All of a sudden, I hear the shower. So, I'm in there trying to tell her not to and she is insisting (this is totally unlike her....just insisting and not listening to me). Anyway, I told her if she was going to do that then I was going to help. She was not happy but I stood by the shower.....hubby quickly made up something she could sit on and rushed it in to me. Anyway, she finished all of that. I got her covered in towels and then son (trained in PT) came in and helped her out of the shower. I had her sitting in her walker for several minutes. She stood up and stood by the sink for a couple minutes. I said Mom are you going to pass out.....she said I hope not and there she went. I already had my arms on her so I held her up and called for help to lower her to the floor. Called 911 and they took her to the hospital. I rode in the ambulance, hubby took uber, son & gf stayed here because food was cooking. Anyway, they ran a bunch of tests but she was slightly dehydrated. After they gave her a bag of fluids, she seemed much better. More coherent - realized she was in the hospital - remembered more often that she was in California. So, I think it was dehydration. She has had this problem before and we always have something by her chair to drink. But, we are just going to have to push it harder. It's been a little over a year since she did this before and ended up in the hospital. The thing is that we have no idea if she has passed out since then because my brother isn't always around. So, this just means more than ever that she needs to be down here with someone with her constantly.
I just tried to get in to see the Doctor for my cold but they are closed. I'm not going to go sit in urgent care at the moment so I'll how I am later or tomorrow.
Off to catch up with all of your Thanksgivings. Bet that you can't top mine. LOL"Only I can change my life. No one can do it for me.".....Carol Burnett

Geez, Nora...you've got me beat!
I remember that your mom had issues re: hydrating. Yep, push those fluids. Would she drink some clear soda like seven up? You could mix it with a bit of citrus gatorade to keep her electrolytes up. Some of those elderly nourishment shakes might be helpful, too. I'm really sorry you had such a bogus day.

Nora, I can't believe you're handling all this without caving!! Simply amazing and a true testament to the daughter and mother/wife you are!
Fen, this just might be considered "crossing the line" but I don't want a skwerl porn dvd, nor do I want to be in the movie. But just wondering how much it would cost me to be the cameraman? hahaha Just kidding lolQuitting and staying quit isn't easy, its learning a whole new way of thinking. It's accepting a new way of life, and not just accepting it, embracing it...
Worry about tomorrow, tomorrow. Just get through today. Tomorrow will look after itself when it becomes today, because today is all we have to think about.
Friendship is not about how many friends you have or who you've known the longest. It's about who walked into your life, said "I'm here for you", and proved it.

Sorry folks. I posted that this morning and then I went back to bed and slept until 2:00 pm!!!!! I woke up Mom and said we have to get up. LOL
Mom is doing better today but can't remember yesterday at all which bothers her. Her poor little tailbone is so sore - I think it's from sitting on the bathroom floor while we waited for the ambulance. She sat there leaning up against me and she's so tiny (about 95 pounds) that I'm sure she is bruised.
I still haven't read back to check on everyone's Thanksgiving. Probably not going to do it right now either. LMAO
Fen - I'd say that your skwerl porn is taking off. Now you have a cameraman - that will make it so much easier for you. :rotlf:
Pauly - thanks - cute pics of your turkey hats yesterday.
Cowboy - know what I thought yesterday when all this was going on? Thank God that I'm not drinking!
Have a great Friday night everyone."Only I can change my life. No one can do it for me.".....Carol Burnett

Good morning. Warm and rainy here today. Ok so apparently a pontoon boat was in the ocean inlet. That type of boat isn't made for waves. It overturned with 7 people on board. I'll spare you the gory details, but 2 people died. So sad.
Looking forward to doing pretty much nothing today. House is clean and decorated, Christmas cards written out, today I relax! We will be going to big sissys house this evening. They just redid their kitchen.
Cowboy, you comment had me laughing!!!
Nora, glad mom isfeeling better.
Fen, just putting this out there. How about a job as a caretaker? Is that definitely out of the question? You just seem perfect for that!

I'm so glad to have a competent camera man, cowboy! The last camera man was one of our back yard turkeys...I strapped the camera to her noggin, but she was easily distracted, and would start scratching the ground for insects. You wouldn't believe the editing I had to do to get rid of all the footage of her ugly feet!
The pay is peanuts...literally.

Liz, I can't wait for updates on the "sissy's" kitchen...
I'm afraid that care giving is out of the question...and yes, I'm awesome at it, lol! I'm empathetic and thoughtful towards my charges. After years of it (from dialysis to relatives), I'm completely tapped out. It drains me emotionally- I have never been able to find a way that it doesn't.
Nora, I hope you and mom have a nice, relaxing day today.
Pauly, are you out of whipped cream yet?
Hey to Rusty, Cowboy, Mama...anybody I've missed?

Gosh - what a terrible day Nora and Lizz.
We had a lovely evening with my parents and then I spent the entire day at a Christmas festival yesterday with my sister in law. I bought a few Christmas gifts.
And YAY Nora..... I didn't even consider drinking when we were loosing Pop. The thought that we were needed kept me from doing it. The same thing may be happening for you..I love my family more than alcohol.:h
Live in the Solution....not the problem
