To me that's one of the gifts of getting older, Molly - less feeling the need to do certain things because I'm supposed to or "have" to. It turns out there is very little we absolutely HAVE to do. I probably should have said NO more often all along (before it became my default answer to everything).
It's our day of thanks in the US - thanks to all of you for being here! I like to wake up and read about good people going about your AF lives and be reminded that our problem does not define us. We're not bad or stupid or weak - and we can get better! NS

4th Thursday of November so it jumps about. Retailers don't like late ones b/c there are fewer shopping days til Xmas...
Our conversation has convinced me to decline an invitation for next week that is sitting in my inbox. I've been reluctant to say yes b/c I have a flight early the next a.m. and the getting ready was already feeling like too much, anyway. So... I'll be sending my regrets .

just cancelled a night out next week cos it was causing me such angst at the thought of it -- dunno if I should be fighting that or just doing what I'm comfortable with --- feel very stretched by 'social' things lately....
I have one this weekend, but its in a remote pub, so I have to drive - not dreading that.
Following weekend is a once-a-year gang of eleven women that will have a hotel room booked to prolong the party - dreading that! (didnt go last year, but will drive and tell them on the night -- will be grand).AF - July 19th 2015 :happy2:

well HAPPY THANKSGIVING DAY to you and yours Sugababe!! never can work out what DAY it happens on --- is it a particular day as in a Thurs or is it always on 26/11? and yes -- like I replied to Rox --- I do need to - instead of flippantly accepting all sorts just cos they are off in the distance -- I need to think more carefully both about my 'yes's' AND my 'no's' -- tricky sometimes this -- without a DOUBT I must have experienced periods of anxiety similar to this in the past -- but definitely by administering a few scoops -- I considered myself grand.... oh latherin HEART!!! barking I am!! now must go to work --- have a great day all our American cousins xx
This enforced jollity at Christmas & New year is a pain in the arse - and it's my natural tendency / default to say no to 'organised fun'
Meet up next year when it feels more natural in a smaller group ?
Like NS I am learning to say no - my age allows me now to be eccentric in work too :haha: and say no.
Our department party is actually a lunch in Dublin restaurant - and then a session of drinks & 'fun' in the pub.
I will condescend to go to the meal and then excuse myself and go shopping - ALONE. :yay:
Don't give a monkey's - see them all year anyway :haha:
How's that for antisocial ?

Hello everyone and Happy Thanksgiving to everyone, we celebrated yesterday because now it's Friday here.. So I was busy, busy... Gave a talk about the holiday at my daughters school about it and then cooked and cleaned up the whole thing. It's always strange to celebrate it in hot weather. I brought out this sparkling grape juice that I had in the garage.. Not sure for how long and we had that... Wow, it must have been in the garage way too long or is filled with so much sugar.. I've been avoiding that too...so it was pretty gross.. I just had to laugh.. I didn't miss wine with the meal and I am loving being sober this morning. I'm off to a mums retreat for the weekend so won't be on the Internet for a few days. I hope everyone has a lovely holiday or weekend wherever you are. xAF January 7, 2018

I am not an antisocial cow either, I do like seeing some people in some situations.....but probably just not the ones most others seem to like
