Nora, hope things are going well for your mom  I stopped at the Community Church in Mannville on my way through town, lit a candle and said a prayer for both of you....Quitting and staying quit isn't easy, its learning a whole new way of thinking. It's accepting a new way of life, and not just accepting it, embracing it...
Worry about tomorrow, tomorrow. Just get through today. Tomorrow will look after itself when it becomes today, because today is all we have to think about.
Friendship is not about how many friends you have or who you've known the longest. It's about who walked into your life, said "I'm here for you", and proved it.

Hi again all, just chatted with Nora. They are back from the hospital and things seem to be okay, nothing broken anyway. Nora said she wouldn't be on for a while till she got her mom settled again. I just love the closeness you Steppers have with one another, bravo!!
mama, you can have our 35 degrees if you want!Quitting and staying quit isn't easy, its learning a whole new way of thinking. It's accepting a new way of life, and not just accepting it, embracing it...

Oh gosh...I wonder if there's something more than dehydration going on with Nora's mom...I'm glad they're all back home! My mom also doesn't drink enough and it's the first thing the Dr.'s office asks if I call in about her. Mom always gets so irritated by that question, but I told her that they ask because it's a universal issue with seniors.

Today was my first "normal" day in a while. Went to the gym, showered, went to the noon meeting, took mom walking at the mall, stopped at the market and now I am ensconced in my basement lair. My sister wives are leaving for Jamaica at three in the morning...I will miss them, but I will get the house nice and clean in their absence.
I will be upstairs watching some of my recorded "Big Bang Theory" shows while they're gone. Even though Nora reassured me that their marijuana habit won't cause me to fail a drug test, I really feel weird when they're impaired on a nightly basis. You can't tell so much with A, but you sure can tell with Barb.
Mama, I'm so glad you are enjoying your job...it's so nice to be appreciated. Don't worry about me...I never identified with any job I had...it's not the main part of who I am, it's just a way to survive. I know that I will most likely find gainful employment after the holidaze.
Pauly, I am really admiring your resolve.

Hey everyone....thank you all so much for the love & prayers. Thank you Cowboy for lighting a candle and for checking on me. We are home. Have Mom settled in her chair. She is going to be sore thru & thru tomorrow.
My alarm went off this morning (yes, my music that I must solve math problems to turn off). Well, I was awake and was just turning off my phone when there was a horrible crash and heard my Mom yell out and then she said that she fell. She was so dang confused. I yelled for hubby to call 911 and ran to her. I don't know how she got up because she had been asleep just moments before because I heard her talking in her sleep. We do not know for sure what happened but she fell completely down, halfway on top of her walker, hit her head and face & shoulder on the Hope Chest, we think. Her head was bleeding. They x-rayed her chest, back, pelvis. Also did a CT scan of her head. Blood work, urine test. Everything came back fine. They thought they were going to have to put a staple in her head wound but luckily decided that wasn't necessary. So, the Dr asked if we would be able to monitor her for 24 hours and said that he could tell that wouldn't be a problem for us. He let us bring her home.
I'm looking into a type of bed rail so that she can't get up without waking me up first. I get up with her during the night but now I'm scared that I won't hear her and she'll fall again."Only I can change my life. No one can do it for me.".....Carol Burnett

Liz - I am impressed with you working in the hospital. Watching them work with Mom today reminded me of what a hard job you have. Thank you for everything you do."Only I can change my life. No one can do it for me.".....Carol Burnett

Mama - I like your attitude! "It's just a job" I finally learned/learning to do that. We know what is important - our family & friends.
Ok - it just took me over an hour to write the above sentence. :rotlf: So, I'm giving it up for the night. Too antsy to sit still - keep jumping up to do something.
Take care everyone. I'll catch up with you tomorrow. Thank you all for being there today - I needed that support. It helped."Only I can change my life. No one can do it for me.".....Carol Burnett
