Re: ~cattleman cafe~ & another 24...

I don't know how, but somehow I missed yesterday's check in! Making it today tho.

Pauly, I don't know if an air fryer can be compared to a grill but I have to say, I love my air fryer! I do burgers in but haven't tried steak. I do sausage, chicken and sweet potato fries, among other things. When Mr. D gave me that for Christmas a couple of years ago I am ashamed to say I wasn't enthusiastic about it. I thought it would just be another appliance taking up counter space. But after giving it a few chances I have found that it is one of my favorites! I have used it often to make potato and sweet potato wedges. Just a spritz of PAM and some salt and pepper or seasoning of choice and those wedges are done in 10 minutes. Mmm!

Big Al, hang in there! You are right where you need to be and as long as you don't give up, you will reach your goal. It is simple altho not easy. One Day At A Time is best.

Has anyone here ever had the "Stress Test" ? I have been undergoing testing for heart issues. Today was my first ever stress test. OMG! Not fun. No results yet. Maybe that's how I missed yesterday's check in...I have been stressed out over having to do the stress test and I was way off kilter yesterday.

24 more, please and thank you.
Dill

dill hope that you have good results from your stress test. I've had several done, and yes, they can be "stressful!"

I ordered an adult (not porn) paint by number kit, and I can spend hours on it, and never once do I think about alcohol! It's a great hobby, and so far I'm really enjoying it! Rava, I know that you would probably enjoy it as well. The company that I bought it from is called Masterpiece by numbers. You should check out their website, as they have some beautiful paintings.

Thanks for your honesty ginger 999. I too, would have a hard time staying booze free of I was in a group of friends that were drinking.

24 more please..

I had a stress test as well dill, the one with the inclined treadmill, and I darn near had to hold on to the handles to keep from being flung off the back end as it was going so fast and steep toward the end. I passed with flying colors though.

Well done for stopping at two Ginger999! I know I wouldn't have been able to do that! And so I live with the motto "if only one, why not none".

All is as good as it can be in cowboy's world. It sounds like Adam and Darcie will have their acreage sold soon. They have accepted an offer to purchase as long as all the subject to's are met. And if they aren't, there are two more parties in line with offers. The mil has also decided to move from the senior residence they were in to a different one here in Veg. Not sure why exactly, maybe she wants to get out of the place that she shared with the fil and get her own place now, who knows. But it'll be hook up to the trailer and load furniture in the next week or two...

Ginger999, I found I was not capable of mindful, social drinking. If I have 1 I will have 10 (or more). It feels good to be in a place with people who don't judge.

But it's that type of thinking about myself that I'm working to change. Trying not to frame myself as a failure while still keeping some pressure on to not drink. As far as I'm concerned, if you are on this forum you are winning. Easy for me to say, hard for me to put into practice. Today is day 4, at least I made it through the DREADED day 3 which is a killer for me for some reason.

Anyway, it's return to the office day. For the first time in over a year I will make my commute and go into the office.

24 more please and thanks.

Another 24 hours please & thank you.

Looking forward to a quiet day with no appointments except for our son, an electrician, coming this evening to change out the light fixture I keep banging my head on. He will be the first family member to see our new home.

If Covid numbers continue to improve, by the weekend we could be able to access the many amenities in our building that have been closed. I’m looking forward to a soak in the hot tub!

You are so right Big Al. People on MWO are winning, by being here and by not drinking. Sometimes we slip, we get it. I bet everyone here has slipped at some point. No one is here to judge, just support. That’s what makes MWO and especially the Cafe so valuable.

Have a great af Wednesday everyone. One more sleep until my barbecue arrives!!!

Big AL I read that day 3 is when all the alcohol finally leaves your body so that's why it's so hard physically, last time I drank in Nov I felt like shit for a full week and a half after, couldn't get with it and felt really spacey,it was scary and awakening, my body is tired of alcohol, Dill I love an air fryer too I got reacquainted with the broiler in the oven recently, I've made BBQ chicken, ribs and steak just cook them first and get that nice char last minute, made some fajitas that way a week ago, waves to the gang and wishes for a fabulous AF day!

Good morning cafe. Big Al, you can use your commute time to listen to podcasts there are many that help with drinking. Just a thought. Also Jude thanks for the tip about the paint by numbers. I will check it out. I think I mentioned to you that I do diamond painting. Thats a fun and mindless hobby too. If I didn't mention it check it out on You Tube. Ginger I’m impressed that you held it to two. Thats where I start to go down the hill. That to me is responsible drinking and over time it goes away and that sensible stopping at two becomes a whole bottle or two and completely wasted. Hi to everyone and hope everyone has a great and AF day. Another 24 for me please and thank you.

Good morning Cafe friends and stress tested. My position is simply this, if you have joined this forum, social drinking is not an option. I know you get that Ginger. Happy you see that truth too, BigAl. So, I’m holding you both in loving light and sending positive reinforcement to you both. Another 24 for me. Have a wonderful sober day. Blessings x

Well, I blew it last night and feel like crap today. I know better, I am better than this. Pauly, I love what you said, "my body is tired of alcohol". I wish my body would finally convince my head!

I have a hike planned today and I would love to cancel but I'm going to push through. I'm sick of myself and needs some fresh air.

Thanks for being here. Humbly asking for 24.

Quick check in for me today. Feeling better now that I've put some distance between myself and that stress test!

Just two doesn't work for me anymore.

24 more please and thank you.

Hang in there Ginger! We are all here fighting the conflicting thoughts within our brains. It seems as though one voice is saying Go for it! You deserve this! But do we really deserve the hangovers and fog brain that alcohol causes? No we don't! I try to remember this when I have an urge to drink, and sometimes it helps.

Early day for me at work. Hope that everyone has a great AF day!
