Re: ~cattleman cafe~ & another 24...

Rava, I hope the pain from that hellish root canal has subsided. I'm so sorry you went through that! You are right that we here understand your cravings being so powerful. Your words brought to mind that old saying re: alcohol: "cunning, baffling, powerful." You have much to be proud of though, so focus on that!

Techie, that physical response you had sounds concerning. It sounds like a wise choice to give yourself more healing time. :heartbeat:

QW, any word on the test results? I hope Mrs. QW is hanging in there.

Carpet cleaners coming today. We are just having them do the upstairs. If it goes well we will have them do the main floor next.

24 more please and thank you.
Dill

Yep, we all know what it's like Rava, nothing is easy about quitting. For some reason our brain just won't accept that fact that we can live without drinking, that we don't need alcohol at all. I'm having the same argument with my brain about smoking. I know it's not good for me, I know I can live without it, and I know that if others can quit and stay quit then I can to. I get a few days smoke free then along comes another excuse why I need to have a smoke. But I'm not giving up! I'm getting more and more smoke free days in a month and I'll keep trying to stretch out those days in a row till I'm finally smoke free!
Quitting and staying quit isn't easy, its learning a whole new way of thinking. It's accepting a new way of life, and not just accepting it, embracing it...
Worry about tomorrow, tomorrow. Just get through today. Tomorrow will look after itself when it becomes today, because today is all we have to think about.
Friendship is not about how many friends you have or who you've known the longest. It's about who walked into your life, said "I'm here for you", and proved it.

Another 24 hours please & thank you.

Thanks for asking about Mrs QW’s test Dill. Tomorrow morning is when the procedure is being done. Not sure how long we have to wait for any results. Has anyone in the Cafe had an endoscopy? Mrs QW is worried about it. While the procedure is only 10 minutes, she’ll be there for about 3 hours after. I was able to accompany her last week to meet with the gastroenterologist but in the material for the procedure, it says they have a no visitor policy. Guess we’ll sort this out tomorrow.
Dill, I frequently use the quote in your signature line, “If it’s important to you, you’ll find a way. If not, you’ll find an excuse”. So true and applicable to so many things in life.

Rava, hope the pain soon disappears.

Techie, same wish for you and Mrs T, hope your aches and pains are lessening.

Hope we hear from Big Al tonight!

Have a great af Wednesday everyone!

QW, I've had an endoscopy and it was a breeze. Once they put the thing in my mouth to keep it open, I don't remember a thing. Much easier than a colonscopy, IMO. No twists and turns! Hope Mrs has the same experience and finds out what's going on!

Rava, I believe you are still 99% AL free! Good for you for dumping the poison!

Techie, hoping you and Mrs turn the corner soon and start to feel like your old selves soon!!

Hi to all my Cafe buddies. Hoping things are going well for you BigAl. May we all have an easy AF day!

Good morning Cafe friends and concerned citizens. Rava, sending hugs and strength through the ether. Yes, the shite does that to our thinking. You will only get stronger each time until you can easily turn off that switch. The results of my MRI are not good. It appears I will need surgery on my spine. Of course I will get at least two other opinions. So, no more running, biking, or swimming for the time being. However, I’m blessed and grateful to be alive. We are going to but a new car Friday or Saturday.

It is with lots of self love and appreciation that I accept another twenty four. I wish you all the best day possible. Miss your posts BigAl while you’re off on your life changing adventure. Blessings to all. c

techie, sorry to hear that you will need spinal surgery, and I agree that it would be wise to get a couple more opinions from other docs. Hope that you have some good news soon!

Rava, I do understand all about the AV which can go from a whisper to a high volume siren in your brain! I'm glad that you dumped the rest of the booze down the sink!

QW I've had an endoscopy before and it was no big deal. They gave me a mild tranquilizer, and afterward I didn't remember much of the procedure.

Wishing you the best BigAl!
abcowboy, I know from personal experience how difficult it is to quit smoking. I started smoking at age 14, and continued to do so for almost 10 years. I had quit for 20 years, but a certain stressful situation caused me to start again. I have stopped smoking for a year, then started again. I am currently smoke free, but only for the past 3 days. Sometimes I think that it's more difficult to give up the smokes than quitting the booze!

Anyway, wishing for a smoke and alcohol free day!

Good morning Cafe. Thanks for all the encouraging words. Had a good night last night with no cravings. Techie, I’m so sorry about your MRI result. Glad you are getting another opinion or two. Good luck on your new car purchase. Jude and Cowboy quitting smoking was very hard for me as well. I chewed a lot of nicorette gum which really helped with the quit. If you chew it too fast you get hiccups. I had hiccups a lot! Hope to hear from Big Al soon. We are all rooting for him…..Wishing everyone a great and AF day! Another 24 for me please and thank you.

Well, I'm determined to be completely smoke-free by the time I turn 65 in January! I know it's doable, just have to work harder at it!

Sorry to hear about needing spinal surgery techie, but good luck with the car shopping this weekend...

Hopefully you'll get good news from the results of the tests Quit wining, if not a solution to the weight loss, at least some explanation...

I stayed outside with Hank a bit longer this morning watching the Northern Lights dance, they were putting on an amazing show! Mother Nature can be so beautiful at times!

I never smoked and I'm so thankful because I know with my personality, I'd have yet another thing to struggle to quit! My sister started at 12 yo and at 61, she still struggles. Ugh!

Techie, hope you can get to the bottom of your spine issues soon. Glad you're getting second opinions.

BigAl, sending good vibes that things are going well for you!! Hope to see you back soon.

Good morning Cafe friends and loving supporters. We go to see specialists today. I’m having issues with my left eye (not seeing clearly) and family doc is concerned about possible retina issues. So, enough with the medical stuff. No matter what life throws at us, we control how to respond to it. So, with a smile and my hand in Mrs Techies we push forward and through it all.

It is with deep undying gratitude that I accept another twenty four. I wish you and all those less fortunate the best day possible. Blessings x

I love your attitude of gratitude, Techie. And I enjoyed a moment imagining your view of the Northern Lights display, Cowboy.
I am grateful I never took up smoking as I have heard it is really hard to let go of that habit. Good luck to you Cowboy, and you, Jude.

24 more please and thank you.

Another 24 hours please & thank you.

A late check in for me today although having been awake since 4:30, I could have posted before Cowboy!

Mrs QW’s procedure went well this morning with no obvious answer as to why she’s been having so many complications. One more thing added to the list of what it isn’t, just wish we knew what it was. Now we wait for lab test results.

I quit smoking 38 years ago but I still consider myself a smoker. I feel that if I had a cigarette now, I’d buy a carton and be right back into it. No thanks. And in my case, it was tougher giving up smoking than drinking. In both situations, so worth it.

Techie, good idea to get additional opinions on surgery. You have a great attitude and it’ll serve you both well as you recover.

Have a great af Thursday everyone. Big Al, thinking about you.
