Re: ~cattleman cafe~ & another 24...

24 more. Sorry for your loss lifechange.

Warm (unseasonable) and wet/damp here between the great lakes. Looks very temporary but I'll take it. Oddly the trees still have all their leaves except one or two sub types like the black walnut. Very odd autumn.

I've been taking a closer look at my medications and trying to figure out bias' between sites (Bluelight forum, baclofen treatment, etc) and their agenda's. I have my specialist appointment next week and I need to get my head around whats been going on to see if I can figure out which Gaba A B / Calcium Ion Channels / NMDA and Serotonin I'm messing with. Oddly enough I've found conjecture rampant and people are speculating things and everyone has a different experience. Looking closely at Gabapentin which seems to have some unusual effects in terms of memory and attention span and serious withdrawals for some. It definitely either placebo wise helped me quit AL. Oddly its supposed to stunt the anxiety and energy but seems to make me ON all the time. So some research on it I've concluded its a devil in disguise and I should not be upping it as I have been. I think I will try a day with less to see if I am one of the unlucky ones that experiences withdrawal from it... I have yet to find out. I have a little fear as I take Campral and after reading about Gabapentin it seems they both mess with the Voltage Gated Calcium Ion Channel that relates to how Gaba's work. Could the combo causing the ON switch to be flicked. That or its prolonged withdrawal still from AL.

So realistic assessment time of myself, look at the last couple weeks and what I remember and don't (as it appears to cause some blacking out of memory function or making synapses). I'll have one other person make a list of my behaviors as well and see what the specialist says. Complicated when you research yourself instead of blindly taking medicines from your GP or specialist.

In just under the wire today. Just back from the tiki bar on the beach, sipping ginger beer (non-AL). Two days down here on the beach and no booze! yea!. Mom was super surprised to see us all!

Super glad you took a moment to check in, Mr Vervill! I am really impressed with your achievement, too! I wonder if anybody has noticed or said anything to you about your abstinence?

empyr3al, your posts always give me new info or something new to google. I hope you can figure your pharma situation out satisfactorily. I found my head swimming the last time you mentioned Gaba A and Gaba B receptors and I went googling. I find it all too dauntingly complicated for me! I'm sticking with what my doc recommends: 300mg Gabapentin. I will say that I have had some questions about whether or not it was affecting my memory and like you that is a concern of mine. As to withdrawal at that level, there isn't supposed to be a problem, but I did find that when I tried to stop taking it I had difficulty sleeping. I resumed taking it before I could see if that would diminish with time. Sleep is too precious. I think without it I would be sorely tempted to return to the substance that was my sedative of choice for too many years.

Greetings to all others here in the café! It's 60F for a high today with clouds but no rain. Pretty nice. I'll take it without alcohol!

8:21 here in Jersey and looks to be a sunny day today. Committing to another 24!

So two oddities. Got a call a few weeks ago from a publisher that ran across my book on Amazon. Trying to to talk me into entering a self-publishing partnership for $1800. Was looking at their website the other day but now I look it up and I'm not sure if I'm just not remembering the company name correctly or not but I can't seem to find it. Tempting but I'm a little wary. Now I just got a call from Navient education services that I'm some sort of contact for an ex-girlfriend I haven't seen in three years. Alarm bells are starting to go off in my head a bit. Geesh.

              Good job Mr V!

Seems strange indeed Orimus, I'm not one to believe in coincidences..

First day of hunting tomorrow for my boy and I! Hunting season opened Nov 1st but since Adam has just started into a new position with his company, he didn't want to take the day off. We'll be out in the cool, crisp, fresh air first thing tomorrow morning!

dill, I would not worry about 300mg. I'm at 900-1200 and only took 300 Yesterday. I had the worst sleep and was conscious every hour. That's unusual as I sleep solid. I took diphenhydramine aka benedryl tab last light to see if it would help. I was curious and haven't had issue dicing the quantity so far other than that. Some people are hitting 3000 to 5000mg a day and for much longer periods of time and describe some really strange effects on it or weening off of it. I have learned it heavily interacts with caffeine btw. So I switched to green tea yesterday. Maybe my hyper focus and often clouded with confusion maybe attributed to that interaction. I posted quite a bit more technical stuff on theendofmyaddiction in the October Check In of you want to see what gabapentin studies I've hashed out. Some people use it recreationally at up to 50000mg which is crazy. Yeah keep it simple if you don't want to get sucked in heavily by research.

                        24 more please.

Quick check in for 24 more. Mom was in the hospital for the past 2 days with acute vertigo. She’s home now with me -still suffering bouts of dizzy. Thank God (and I do) for my sobriety. I’ll catch up when I can. Love to all. Catch - way to go girl on that exam!

Finished my last cig in pack this arvo. Dual quit for 24 . Was given a grant this week $300/week for next 11 months and a business course to go along with it. Has been fantastic to get out and share business ideas and strategies. Also been in a webinar on love and relationships. I guess the saying goes, if we don’t love ourselves or look after ourselves, how can we do the same for someone else? A very good learning week with more great self dev to come
