Getting ready to head out to the airport, not looking forward to the flight, but I'm excited about seeing my sister. I'll be staying there for 10 days but I'm sure that it will go quickly.
Praying for Florida, and hoping that no lives are lost. I saw on the news that one guy planned to stay in his sailboat which is tied to a dock. That's insane, but I guess that it's his choice.
24 more for all of us please...

Oh Rava, you, your family and neighbors are in my thoughts. This can't pass fast enough for everyone, I'm sure. The shot is hyaluronic acid (Rooster Comb). It's supposed to add a jelly like substance to the joint. Who knows? My last cortisone shot only lasted about 48 hrs. Not a good option for me, sadly.
Dill, ours were black locust. It was a grove that was on our farm. They were just there smelling great every spring.
Mul, I think changing locations can be a trigger. I know I struggle when we move around. You've got this though!
Jude, safe travels. Enjoy every minute with your sister.
ABC, almost done and ready to be home to Bubba? I bet you are. Will you guys ever get another dog? I hate to see great pet owners without a pet!
Busy day. Going to workout then up to help with the greats so gdaughter can work. It's a good day for a good AF day!!

Good morning Cafe. The storm is supposed to hit tonight around midnight. My outdoor ring camera must be wet or something because it’s no longer connecting to the WiFi. I can still see the back camera as long as we have internet. A few neighbors in our condo unit are staying in spite of the mandatory evacuation orders. I am very worried for their safety. We also have 2 children in the path of this monster. They are also staying. My stomach is in knots. I will not drink over this because that will only start me down a long path. I also have to remind myself that my recent slips occurred for no reason so I obviously dont even need an excuse to drink. Ginger, I am sorry about that damn knee. You mentioned an injection would that be a cortisone shot? I get them and find them very helpful. Jude safe travels tomorrow to see and help your sister. Hi to Dill, Cowboy and Mul. This day will be so long. I feel like I have been watching paint dry all week. 24 more please and thank you…….

Ginger, so sorry about your knee. It's not what you wanted to hear, I'm sure. You are right that drinking over it will not help, so stay strong. Btw, you mentioned the wonderful smell of the locust blossoms and I meant to tell you YES. It is a lovely smell. There seems to be a hint of grape to it. The black locust is the one that has no thorns and the wonderful scent. We have several in our yard. It's those awful honey locusts that have the thorns.
Mul, it could be a combination of things that are triggering you, but it doesn't matter what the trigger...just stay strong. You have come so far!!!
Rava, the storm path seems to be changing. I hope that bodes well for your home in Florida.
Safe travels tomorrow, Jude!
24 more for all of us please and thank you.

I'm glad you're safe and sound where you are Rava, and hopefully nothing major happens to your condo.
Sorry to hear about the knee Ginger, guess it's decision time for you if the injections don't work if you try them. Knee replacement isn't the end of the world if that's what you decide.
Good job on not acting on those urges Mulburry, nothing is worth drinking over.
How long will you be staying with your sister Jude, I'm sure you'll both think not long enough.

Rava, praying that Milton doesn't cause too much damage to your condo. It's tragic that Florida is dealing with 2 back to back hurricanes. Let's hope that there will be no lives lost during this event.
Ginger, sorry about the bad news regarding your knee, and hope that you can avoid a knee replacement. Whatever happens, it's not worth drinking over!
Cowboy, glad that the harvest is winding down so that you can spend more time with Bubba. When I arrive in Denver my sister is picking me up and we will drive from there to Cheyenne where she lives.
Mulburry, I know what you mean about those cravings that seem to come when you least expect it. It's not worth acting upon those thoughts as they always disappear if you just wait it out.
I'm in for another 24 hours of peace...

Milton was a Category 5 last night and has weakened a bit but not enough.
Hey, Mul! Hope you are well and getting out for some last of season hiking. I miss it so.
I don't know if it's partly due to dealing with some apartment issue stress or partly due to being back in my old stomping/drinking grounds but have been struggling with some really intense cravings lately ("just one night, what's the big deal?"). I've managed to persevere though and think I'm over the worst of it now. Not today.Last edited by Mulburry; October 8, 2024, 09:20 PM.

Mercy! Rava, thinking of you and the people in the way of Milton. I'm so glad you're north.
Jude, I'm so glad you got your flight changed!
Not good news about the knee. Apparently, the cartilage has a large crack, clearly visible on the photos from surgery and stage 4 osteoarthritis. Dr cleaned it up as best he could but the only way to get it back to "normal" would be a replacement. I'll go back and on the 29th to discuss next steps and hopefully get a hyaluronic acid injection, if medicare approves it. There's also stem cell injections that have proven affective in some people but it's definitely not covered. I keep telling myself, it could be worse
Thanks for listening, dear friends. I will not drink over this, however, I considered it for a moment on my way home. I'll take another day of freedom

Good morning Cafe. Thanks for all the words of support. Milton was a Category 5 last night and has weakened a bit but not enough. I am literally sick with worry. I am not going to lie. Scared for my family, friends and neighbors. We are under a mandatory evacuation starting at 6 am this morning. Storm to hit tomorrow night into Thursday. We have hurricane windows and garage door but storm surge is what I am afraid of. We are very close to the Gulf of Mexico and with Hurricane Ian our community flooded in the back near the gulf. Our condo sits more in the front towards the road. I have the ability to watch from my video camera as long as we have internet. The pond behind my house is about 10 feet from my back door and is already at capacity. So now we just pray and wait……This is exactly why we bought this tiny home to avoid Hurricanes……. Jude, I am glad that you got your flight redirected. Staying away from Milton is the best news ever. You will be safer flying than driving in this day and age. Your sister will be happy to see you and get your help and support. Cowboy, here’s hoping your get that harvest done by the weekend! Ginger, damn that knee. I know you are impatient so maybe the doctor will encourage you to just give it more time. I am sorry that you are not springing back as fast as you would like. Dill good luck with that leak. A week of dry weather should help getting the equipment into the area. Hope everyone has a great and sober day. We are going bike riding with our neighbors from Florida that also live north. If we have a lot of damage Mr R and our neighbor might drive down this weekend to assist in repairs.

Every time I see some news about Milton I think of you Rava, sure hope your home isn't affected. At least you're safe and sound even if you have to watch from afar.
How did the Dr appointment go Ginger, did he have any reasons for the pain still being there?
Glad that you were able to get your flight changed Jude, I don't imagine there be any flights happening anywhere in the path of the storm. Do you have a connecting flight then from Colorado to Wyoming?
No honey locust trees up around here dill, at least none that I'm aware of. Hopefully they'll find and fix the problem without too much difficulty.
There's finally light at the end of the tunnel! If the canola, weather, and equipment cooperate we should finish up harvest this weekend, maybe even Friday...

Ginger, I'm sorry you are still feeling that pain. It could be that the healing process is just SLOW. I can understand your impatience for sure.
Jude, good to hear you were able to get a direct flight and avoid the storm zone.
24 more for all of us here, please and thank you.

Ginger, hope that you had some good news at your appointment yesterday. Maybe you just have to give it more time.
Dill, it looks like Mr.D has a lot of work to do but it will give you lots of firewood!
Rava, hope that this next hurricane misses you. My original flight had an 8 hour layover in Orlando Fl on Thursday, but I was able to get a different one that went straight to Denver without any layovers. I wouldn't be surprised if a lot of flights are cancelled going out or in Orlando. Big sigh of relief...
Gratefully looking forward to a booze free day!

Dill, hope ya'll get to work on the pond soon and it's a success. We have locust trees here. They grow huge. Not sure what kind they are but they smell wonderful in bloom.
Rava, any news on Milton fizzling out or changing direction?
Jude, I'll keep you in my thoughts!
ABC, -40? I can't even imagine! Yuk
I've been out of sorts since my surgery. My knee after almost three weeks, feels pretty much the same. Dang it! This makes me grumpy and I hate that! Hopefully, the doc will be reassuring at today's appt.
I'll take another day of freedom!
