Drove home yesterday from the in-laws with a chuckle and full belly lol. Read the letter from the oncologist about the upcoming appointment on the 5th of September. Appears to be just a consultation visit, however, it is in the dermatology day surgery clinic, so who knows. The FIL was asking if it made any sense to me, and I tried to explain that after my recent experience with "specialists", nothing they say makes sense, they're all a bunch of liars lol. I told him what I'd read about on melanoma, that they would cut the melanoma off taking a bit of the good skin with it to see if the cancer is spreading, then it would be another waiting session till the results came back. He was quite adamant about no more surgery on his face, no more blood or painful stitches. He wasn't about to have to walk around with another big bandage on his cheek and not be able to shave lol. I explained that they had to do it to prevent it from spreading, if it hasn't already started spreading. He said; where's it going to spread, my head, my head don't work so good anyway! How do you argue with an 84 year old man with advanced dementia lol.

I asked Bubba on the way home what the point was going to the appointment if Dad wasn't going to get anything done anyway and she figured we should go just to hear what the oncologist has to say. I'm not sure what she's thinking about this whole thing, if she wants to try and talk him into the surgery, or just let it be like he wants to. Time will tell I guess...

Quitting and staying quit isn't easy, its learning a whole new way of thinking. It's accepting a new way of life, and not just accepting it, embracing it...
Worry about tomorrow, tomorrow. Just get through today. Tomorrow will look after itself when it becomes today, because today is all we have to think about.

Funny, it wasn't the days that were hell on wheels for me, it was me that was hell on wheels! lol

Re: ~cattleman cafe~ & another 24...

Going to busy this week, got word that I project I am working on now needs to be finished by Thursday, as I leave town for a long weekend, a family reunion.
We thought we had another 4 weeks on the project, but, no.
Hope your FIL at least talks with the Docs. Melanoma is a killer for sure. Have lost a friend to it, when he was in his early 40's. But if that's the way to old man wants to go out, who am I to say. Just hope he doesn't suffer. Don't mean to be blunt, just thinking out loud.
24 more of peace for all of us.

I guess it all depends on your definition of "hell on wheels", abcowboy! I was referring to the hell of hangover. I think that's what Jude58 meant too. You sound like it means raising hell as in going off the deep end drinking! Have I got that right?

Another 24 hours please & thank you.

We survived the dinosaur museum with our grandson. I remember now why Mrs QW and I do stuff in the off-season! I think my ankles were run into 5 or 6 times by parents pushing these land yachts around. Good grief some of them are huge. I saw one that was bigger than my 1st car!

Most importantly though, our grandson thoroughly enjoyed himself and was amazed at the size of some of the dinosaurs. I think he also liked lunch at Dairy Queen too!

He slept most of the way home so is now full of energy!!

Hope everyone has/had a great af Monday!

Well dill, guess you could say that everything about me was hell on wheels, except for the hangovers. I rarely suffered from a hangover. Dry mouth, bit of pain in behind my eyes, but give me some greasy food, cup of coffee, and I was ready to go. Guess I should have paid a bit more attention as to how much my body could tolerate the booze... But that's in the past, pretty healthy now considering what I put my body through... well, except for being one-armed for now, but that nothing to do with drinking lol.

Sounds like pretty good day for you and the lad QDub, undoubtedly a lasting memory shared between the 3 of you!

Love that quote, Jude58. It is so very true what a difference one person can make in lighting the world. A smile is the same. It makes a difference in someone's day if they are greeted by a smile. It is uplifting and the thing about it is, it lifts up the person who makes the effort to smile as well! There is actually research that proves that by consciously smiling your muscles then send an unconscious message to your brain that elevates your mood! Yes, it's true!

Our grandson is having a great visit with us. Next up is a visit to the splash park.

Hope everyone has a great day, af!
