Re: ~cattleman cafe~ & another 24...
Another 24 hours please & thank you.
Ginger, reading your post brought memories of our first visit to the Oregon Coast. While we brought bathing suits we didn’t swim in the ocean because of cool water temps but the many walks we had on the beach were spectacular. A couple of times we had a bowl of clam chowder at the Chowder Bowl in Depoe Bay, a great way to warm up. Or a steamer at the Pirate Coffee Company. Yarrrrgh!
It’s going to be another warm one here today but at least the smoke is mostly gone.
Have a great af Wednesday everyone!!

Re: ~cattleman cafe~ & another 24...
Glad that the smoke is clearing up QW. I can't imagine...ugh!
I've always wanted to visit Oregon, as all of the pics I've seen have been just gorgeous. I took one of those survey things on FB once, and based on your personality, it told you what state you would be happiest living in. My state was Oregon, so I did some research on it, and they were right!
The New York state fair started yesterday, and it is a big deal for many people. I usually go once every few years, mostly for the agricultural side of it, but tonight the hubby and I are going to a concert there. The Tedeschi Trucks band is playing, a blues rock band that I have always enjoyed. Should be fun! It's raining at the moment, but hopefully that will clear out of here by tonight!
Hope that everyone is doing well!
Another 24 please and thank you very much!

I have never heard of the Tedeschi Trucks band so naturally I googled it. That's one of the perks of this thread/forum. You learn new things or old things that you never knew! LOL I can see why you like them, Jude58!
I stepped out onto the deck this morning and thought: Apple cider weather!
24 more, please and thank you.Dill

"".. the greater part of our happiness or misery depends on our dispositions and not on our circumstances.""--Martha Washington
"a light heart eases a hard struggle. a sense of humour takes the sting our of troubling circumstances. likewise, a hateful attitude takes the luster out of the brightest moments. we have the power to control the flavour of the circumstances which will invite our involvement.
accepting responsibility for our own happiness frees us from others' control and it heightens our moments of pleasure. we are in control of the level of our joy and sorrow."
I'm remembering this today after having a long evening and then this morning of blaming someone else for my sadness. Of course it's ok to be sad and hurt.. but I think it's then necessary to let go, move forward and try to find a new/better perspective.
Hope you have a great time at the concert, Jude.. sounds like a lot of fun..
Dill, a friend of mine just moved out to the country and has 16 apple trees.. which she's made into some lovely juice. Mmmm..
It's still so hot here that we don't have Autumn anywhere in our minds.. but should cool down this weekend.
Here's to another 24 af hours.. wishing everyone a good day.

Re: ~cattleman cafe~ & another 24...
Cool, clear and sunny this morning. Heat returning by the weekend.
I'll take it while it lasts.
Oregon is one of four states I've yet to visit, I'll get there some day. The other three are Alaska, Hawaii, and North Dakota.
Jealous of your concert, Jude, I always seem to be out of town when they visit here.
24 more please.

Today is going to be a darn good day not to drink!Quitting and staying quit isn't easy, its learning a whole new way of thinking. It's accepting a new way of life, and not just accepting it, embracing it...
Worry about tomorrow, tomorrow. Just get through today. Tomorrow will look after itself when it becomes today, because today is all we have to think about.

You know lifechange, your quote this morning brought to mind the 3 P's, and how daily occurrences can affect how we feel. Happiness, sadness, anger, forgiveness, etc is all a state of mind. Can we really control the thoughts and directions our mind takes? I don't think we can in that exact moment, but we can control how we react to those thoughts. Gratitude is one important way we can deal with them, drinking is another way. I'll take gratitude any day over drinking. Another thing I've learned to do (with my counsellor's help) is to just let those bad thoughts pass, don't react in any way to then. And lots of times, I bask in the joy that good thoughts bring. The bottom line, it's up to us as individuals how we deal with our thoughts so why not deal with them positively....Quitting and staying quit isn't easy, its learning a whole new way of thinking. It's accepting a new way of life, and not just accepting it, embracing it...

I agree dill, not only is our thread supportive, it's informative! Re: ~cattleman cafe~ & another 24...
Another 24 hours please & thank you.
And, it’s back. With avengeance. The smoke that is. When we headed out on our walk at 6 this morning you could actually see the particulates in the air. We are again under a severe air quality warning.
Jude, hope you enjoy the concert. I too had to look up the band on Google, will check out their music this morning.
Mr V, I haven’t been to Hawaii but have seen parts of Alaska and North Dakota. Both beautiful places and definitely worth exploring.
Hope everyone enjoys a great Thursday, af of course!

Headed back to the smoke tomorrow. I've enjoyed spending the last two weeks with my little sis. I'm going to miss her so much! That's kind of funny because we only live 20 minutes from each other when are home. :happy2:
Another 24 please and thank you so much!

Re: ~cattleman cafe~ & another 24...
Another cool morning. I stepped out onto the deck and was greeted by the sweet smell of fresh mown grass. I mowed yesterday evening. I'm having to step up a bit more bc Mr. D is having some health issues with his kidneys. He is seeing a specialist and I hope he makes improvements but even so lately I have been beginning to think about the "what ifs". If he doesn't improve we will likely have to make changes to our life style. Farm upkeep requires a certain amount of physical labor!
Other sad news my end is that my 12yo nephew who was suffering with Muscular Dystrophy passed away night before last. My brother and his wife are devastated. My brother called me at 11pm on Wednesday to tell me about it. After I got off the phone I had a moment of gratitude that I was sober to receive that call.
Kind of a somber post, and for that I am sorry. But there are days...
However, "today will be a darn good day not to drink"!
24 more please.Dill

dill...I'm so sorry about your nephew. It's never easy to deal with loss, especially at such a young age. I hope that Mr. D's health improves.....life often seems to get more difficult as we age. Not much that we can do about it except adapt to these changes as best we know how. Staying sober definitely makes it easier.
The concert was awesome last night. I do believe that it's the first concert that I've attended where I wasn't high or drunk. Unfortunately many of the folks around us were very drunk and or high. It wasn't too long ago, that I was the same way.....so glad that I'm sober!
I hope that the smoke clears up soon Quit wining and Ginger999....I can't even imagine what that's like. Breathing clean air is just something that we take for granted....until it's gone.
Asking for another 24 please and thank you!
