I got a few extra hours of sleep this morning, we combined till 1am last night, then I drove to Vegreville and got to sleep with Bubba! We have to take the mil into the city for her specialist appointment today. The weather has been great for harvest Quit wining, we've been rolling along non-stop for the past 10 days!

We went later than normal last night because we wanted to make sure that we had under 300 acres left to finish, yep that's right, they will finish today as there's only 275 acres left! A little sad that I won't be with them for those final acres, oh well, it is what it is...

I'll post more when we're sitting in the waiting room at the UofA hospital...

Quitting and staying quit isn't easy, its learning a whole new way of thinking. It's accepting a new way of life, and not just accepting it, embracing it...
Worry about tomorrow, tomorrow. Just get through today. Tomorrow will look after itself when it becomes today, because today is all we have to think about.
Friendship is not about how many friends you have or who you've known the longest. It's about who walked into your life, said "I'm here for you", and proved it.

Quit wining your story about Jessie brought to mind a lovely children's book by James Herriot called Only One Woof about a border collie that didn't bark but once in its whole life. I am fond of border collies and have had two over the years. They are wonderful dogs! I can't imagine having 3 at once tho, Jude!

Cowboy, so sad you have to say goodbye to harvest season. I know how you enjoy it.

24 please and thank you.

(Attached are two thumbnails of the cover of the book. I tried to delete one but couldn't figure out how.)

Another 24 hours please & thank you.

Cowboy, good for you to taking your mil to her appointment. In the grand scheme of things, this is what’s really important.
dill, thanks for the info on Herriot’s book. I hadn’t heard of it but will download it today. Jessie is the most laid back dog I’ve ever seen. She’s our second border collie mix. We’ve had her about 14 months, our vet figures she’s about 3 years old now. From the day she came to us, she’s fit in so well with our lifestyle. The grandkids have climbed all over her and she’s been so gentle with them.
After barking at the Halloween decorations once, she walks right by them now without making a sound. Not sure how much protection she’d be if someone broke into the house though!

I hope everyone is enjoying their Friday, af.

""What a man thinks of himself, that is which determines, or rather indicates, his fate."" --Henry David Thoreau

A reminder for us to be loving and kind to ourselves, to talk to ourselves kindly, to focus on our strengths rather than our weaknesses! I feel like I'm getting a bit better at this.. I used to beat myself up, talk to myself in a way I would never do to anyone else. Practice, practice!

Here's to 24 af hours for all of us! and a lovely weekend. xx

LC...I agree with dill. Great quotes this week. Thank you!

dill....James Herriot has always been one of my favorite authors! I believe that his first book was called All Creatures Great and Small, and he wrote several others after that. He writes of his life as a veterinarian in the Yorkshire Dales in England. I can remember shedding tears from both laughing and crying, and I can't recommend his books highly enough.

Pouring rain and cold here. Good day to clean the house I guess.

I'll take another 24 please and thank you very much!

Another 24 hours please & thank you.

Apparently my one woof wonder doesn’t feel threatened by the inflated Halloween decorations in the neighbourhood anymore as we walked past them without a response from Jessie at all. Shortly after though she went into stalking mode. It took me a minute to figure out what she was looking at - a white tail deer in tall grass about 200 yards away. I would never have seen it.

Sunny, warm and windy here today. Hope everyone has a great Saturday, af.

I also agree lifechange, great quotes this week! I enjoy reading the quotes from everyone, it gives me pause to see how far I’ve come and how I can still improve myself and be even better.

At home now, did a bunch of stuff in the house at Veg, hung some pics in the in-laws new place, and then headed back to the farm. I cleaned and loaded up all my things, winterized the camper, ran the slide in, and locked it up for the winter. It’ll be nice to sleep in my own bed tonight after being out at the farm for the past 10 day stretch. And I’m so looking forward to seeing Hank tomorrow morning when we pick him up from the vet kennels! I sure miss my boy!
