Great quotes this week Ginger999! But I have one question for today's quote, why do we alkies have to be such slow learners lol.
Hope y'all have a great Saturday! I presume you're back in the new house Ginger999?Quitting and staying quit isn't easy, its learning a whole new way of thinking. It's accepting a new way of life, and not just accepting it, embracing it...
Worry about tomorrow, tomorrow. Just get through today. Tomorrow will look after itself when it becomes today, because today is all we have to think about.

Slo....so glad that the surgery went well and that your recovery time will be shorter than you thought!
Cheer up Rava! I also have a tendency to get depressed during the holidays. I have learned to let go of my expectations of what Christmas should be like. I also try to detach myself from all of the commercialism that goes along with it. Live in the moment and instead of making a Christmas list, make one of all the things that you are grateful for! Works for me!
Enjoy your families all!
Another 24 please and thank you!

Another 24 hours please & thank you.
Rava, I too find Xmas to be depressing for a few reasons, one being the anniversary of my Dad’s passing on the 23rd of December. What I find works for me when I’m not feeling 100% is to focus on something I’m looking forward to. For example, we have a trip to Mexico coming up in February. I’m looking forward to that.
Today marks 300 days since I last had al. I don’t think I’ve made it that long since I was old enough to legally buy booze.
Off to Canmore in a bit for 2 days of fun with the family! I might even try the water slide the grandkids love.
Have a great af Saturday everyone!

Re: ~cattleman cafe~ & another 24...
Good question, ABC! Why does it take us so long to learn? Does AL make our skulls thick?
The gloomy weather and depression in the winter was the biggest reason we started going south. But here's the rub, beautiful weather doesn't replace time with family and they are all here! We found the house just as we left it. It feels huge after two months in the 5th wheel! Nice to be home. Dinner tonight with everyone. Looking forward to that!
24 more, please!

Well done on 300 days, QW!!!
Sorry to hear you are chasing the blues, Slo and Jude. This time of year is rough on lots of folks. I personally think it has to do with the lack of light as we move into winter.
Our granddaughter is here today. We made Cinnamon/Applesauce ornaments today and the house smells awesome!
I'll go for another 24 please and thank you.Dill
Dont forget, you can: start late, start over, be unsure, try and fail AND STILL SUCCEED!
If it is important to you, you will find a way. If not, you will find an excuse.

Re: ~cattleman cafe~ & another 24...
Good morning. Thanks for all the nice comments regarding depression during the holidays. I am going to focus on my family, the ones I can tolerate, and my upcoming trip to Florida. I have so much to be grateful for so when I get this way I feel selfish and stupid. At least I’m not drinking to make this feeling even worse. Hope everyone has a good day. And by the way Ginger, loved your Christmas advice! Another 24 for me please and thank you.

Have a great Sunday all!
Another 24 please and thank you!

We might not get a quote this morning. I forgot to give Slo her reminder on Thursday and just let her know yesterday. With the short notice and her surgery, it might be asking a bit much of her. My apologies again Slo! We can switch weeks if you want...
5:45am in Alberta, 24 more for me and everyone else who needs them please, and thanks...

Re: ~cattleman cafe~ & another 24...
I can do my week of quotes starting tomorrow. Loved the Christmas advice, Ginger! I agree that people shouldn’t feel compelled to go into debt over this holiday. It can be a really tough time of year. Releasing expectations, looking forward to something afterwards etc. is all solid advice.
I’m enjoying this Christmas because I don’t have so many expectations on me now that the kids are raised, plus using this surgery to get out of everything else, haha. I don’t even have to find surprises for teenaged daughter this year; she just wants what she wants, like AirPods and Spotify Premium, so she knows what she’s getting and I don’t have to shop.
Congratulations on making 300 days for the first time, QW! You’ll be in good shape for going into your trip to Mexico in February.
Cinnamon applesauce ornaments! That’s a good idea for a craft project to do with a granddaughter. I just found out that mine will be named Mabel if it’s a girl. I can get used to it I guess.
Yesterday was a painful day post-surgery, but the anesthesiologist warned me that that would be the hard day.
24 hours more please. I am an AF person now: if cauliflower can be turned into pizza, then I can be turned into a tee-totaller!Last edited by Slo; December 22, 2019, 09:44 AM.Once a pickle, never a cucumber again.
