Re: ~cattleman cafe~ & another 24...

I loved your quote today, Rava. It fits so well with ODAAT.

Cowboy, it's great you got to spend that extra time with Bubba and Hank! Thanks for yesterday's delish breakfast!

QW, Prime Rib burgers sound pretty good, but are they super expensive? You have me thinking now about buying steaks when they are reduced for quick sale and putting them through my kitchenaide meat grinder... Thing is, since I don't go in the store lately, I don't get to shop the bargain bins. Well, I guess that is just another thing to look forward to when we get all this behind us!

Jude, I saw a pileated woodpecker (like Woody the Woodpecker) yesterday right outside my window working on the suet. I haven't seen one of those in our yard in years! I took a picture and it turned out pretty well. Unfortunately I had to use Mr. D's camera to get a good enough zoom, so it is not on my phone and easy for me to post. I'll see if I can get that done soon. Anyway, it's right off our deck, so think of this as a porch report! Haven't done one in a while.

Ginger, high 60's, low 70's is my favorite too, but I am content with anything in the 60's, really. Prefer if a little sun is thrown into the mix!

24 more, please and thank you.
Dill

Dont forget, you can: start late, start over, be unsure, try and fail AND STILL SUCCEED!

If it is important to you, you will find a way. If not, you will find an excuse.

Sad news around here yesterday. I lost a dear friend to covid19. I hadn't talked to her in awhile but last l did she had no underlying health issues. Just happy and healthy. She was set to retire in June and she and her husband were looking forward to snowbirding. Heartbreaking.

I'll take another 24, please but sadly Brady won't. 😢

Another 24 hours please & thank you.

Great quote Rava. When I was a financial planner, I would ask my clients where they wanted to be in 5 years. Once we had that long term goal, I would ask them to work backwards. Where do I need to be in 4 years to meet my 5 year goal? Where do I need to be in 3 years to meet my 4 year goal. And so on until What do I have to do today to meet my goal for this month. One day at a time, right? Something we are very familiar with.

Ginger, so sad about your friend. My condolences.

When this virus has been eradicated, a lot of people in positions of authority around the world need to be held accountable for their actions and inactions. Sadly it probably won’t happen.

The prime rib burgers we get from our butcher are only a bit more than what we pay for lean burgers. We pay $10 for 8 large burgers that don’t shrink, have little fat and are nicely seasoned. Next on my baking list is hamburger buns!

Jessie and I enjoyed our walk this morning in mild temperatures and saw a large rabbit, lots of geese, many songbirds plus we heard a woodpecker. Gotta love this time of year!

Have a great af Monday everyone.

Re: ~cattleman cafe~ & another 24...

Thanks for yesterday's quote Rava! Thinking about where we want to be sure helps when the desire to pick up a drink comes calling. Hangovers and regrets are not part of where I want to be!

So sorry about your friend Ginger! I think that when this is all over many of us will have lost someone we know that succumbed to this hideous virus. Very scary!
dill....I haven't seen a pileated woodpecker in quite some time, but I hear them often. They have such a distinctive call which sounds like some sort of jungle bird. You were lucky to have seen one!

The barn where I board Homer also raises Black Angus beef cattle, so I usually get my meat there and it's delicious!

Cowboy..it sounds like you are going to be pretty busy over the next several weeks. I can tell from your posts how much you enjoy working the harvest.

The weather here has been pretty crappy lately with temps in the 40's and intermittent rain and snow. I just keep reminding myself that better days are coming, just not sure when.

Homer has been lame on and off for the last couple of months and I've had him looked at twice by my regular vet, but she can't find anything wrong. I'm having a specialist come to the barn on Thursday and I really need to be there. I checked with the barn owner, and she said that I could be there for the exam. I'm so excited about seeing Homer again but wish it were for different reasons.

Another blissful 24 hours please and thank you!

Good morning. So sorry about your friend Ginger . This Covid is no joke. I’m scared to see some businesses opening so soon. I guess we will just have to wait and see the outcome. Sorry about Homer too Jude. Hope the vet figures out what’s wrong. Another 24 for me please and thank you.

Ginger, I am so sorry to hear about your loss. Your friend is the first death that is somewhat in my circle. It really brings it home and makes the pandemic seem more real somehow. How is her HB and other family members? Have they been tested?

Jude, so sorry to hear about Homer. I hope the specialist can get to the bottom of it! I didn't realize even riding stables would be shut down during this time.

A very dear friend of ours passed away from cancer over the weekend. She was in hospice and because of the virus, no visitors were allowed into the facility so she was alone, other than for the nursing staff. Her hb died in January, also of cancer. But at least we had a chance to see him and say goodbye. My friend's sister was finally allowed to visit on Friday and was able to sit with her and talk with her so she didn't feel forgotten. She died the next day. The virus has caused so much sadness. I hope the Chinese government pays a price for its part in this pandemic. Their secrecy and coverup while continuing to allow travel, knowing the problem that they had is criminal IMO.

24 more please and thank you.

Hopefully Homer's intermittent lameness won't be anything too serious Jude58! At least you'll get some time with him!

All this talk about beef has got me wanting a grilled steak on the smoker! lol

Loved this mornings picture Rava! A good reminder of what supporting each other is all about!

Rava, I love that brick analogy. Thank you everyone for your condolences. I learned yesterday that Brady's son in law had Covid the first part of April and is just now recovering. Spent days in hospital. During that time his dad passed suddenly. Not sure from what. I have a bazillion questions but I'm being respectful of their grieving time and only offering my thoughts and prayers. Ugh

I'll take another 24, please and thank you.

Jessie and I enjoyed an early morning walk - she thought 6 was a good time to head out! With the return of warm weather, we’re walking twice most days for a total of 9kms, about 5.6 miles. We both love it!

We thoroughly enjoyed sitting on the deck yesterday afternoon listening to birds. So nice to have them back. No sign of our tree swallows yet though.

A lot of countries are going to have to explain their actions/inactions once this virus is over. I saw a photo yesterday of a sign at a protest last weekend that read Profits over People. It could have said Politics and Profits over People. The behaviour of some “leaders” has been disgraceful in my opinion. Citizens just need to hold them accountable, where they can.

Have a great af Tuesday everyone, stay safe, stay well.

Speaking of Homer, I'm "chomping at the bit" to get back to normal already!!

At least we can get outside and walk and garden. And we get to see calves and cows on our pastures again thanks to our new renters. Our governor is taking steps to get our state back on its feet and get people back to work as safely as possible. Feels like maybe there's light at the end of the tunnel!
