Re: ~cattleman cafe~ & another 24...

My Northern friends sent us some cold weather. 16f here today. From my chair, I can see the freeway and the big rigs are crawling. Guess the highways are treacherous this morning.

Rava, gorgeous pic! Remind me, are you on the gulf side or the Atlantic?

No school today or Monday! Whoot whoot! Going for another 24!!

Re: ~cattleman cafe~ & another 24...

Grateful for yesterday's 24 hours of freedom and going for another today.

Yesterday was just not a normal day. It started with my tablet shutting down on me in the middle of something. I tried everything I knew to bring it back, but no luck. Anyway, that's what kept me from posting. I could have done so with my phone, but that is not my preferred method and as the day went on, I just never got back to it.

On top of the tablet failure we had car problems. So, Mr. D had the car partly dismantled getting at the battery which we hope is the problem because that would be the easiest fix. We'll find out today when he gets a chance to work on it some more. We have a 2011 Volt, so it was a specialized battery. We were pleased to be able to lay hands on one yesterday. As many of you may know, if you follow the car world, the Volt has been discontinued. So, anyway, while out getting the battery, we dropped the tablet off at the repair shop. The initial assessment by a lower level tech is "CPU failure". He said it's rare but when it happens you might as well just buy a new tablet, cost-wise. He said the specialist would be in Sunday and he'd take another look. Fingers crossed. We bought that tablet in 2016 so it is not old. It is a Surface Pro 4 and cost us a pretty penny, $1300+. I'm sorry for all the detail in this post. I included it for those who find these things interesting. It's ok with me if you don't. Long story short: yesterday was a day of adversities, but we carried on. :happy2:

QW, how is Mrs. Q? Is she still able to carry on with some of the activities she enjoys, like baking? I know you said she was starting to have more difficulty processing things. I find I do lately, too. I make some darn silly mistakes sometimes.

Rava, thanks again for a piece of your world! I truly find comfort knowing I could just get in my car and be on a beach like that in 2 days time if I were willing to.

24 more for all of us, please.

Dont forget, you can: start late, start over, be unsure, try and fail AND STILL SUCCEED!

If it is important to you, you will find a way. If not, you will find an excuse.

5:30am in Alberta, I'll have 24 more please, and thanks...

There's been lots of frosted over intakes on hot water heaters, boilers, and furnaces around here as well Quit wining! And the plumbing vents that go through the roof are freezing over as well creating draining issues. The frosted intakes is an easy fix, disconnect the pipe at the water heater and let it get combustion air from inside till the weather warms up, then re-connect it. But be sure to disconnect the intake, not exhaust, don't want any carbon monoxide being pumped into the house! How's the search for the new realtor going anyway?

Sounds like you had an expensive day dill! Hopefully everything can be repaired instead of having to be replaced. I've run into something similar a few times this winter with furnaces! Fairly new furnaces that were manufactured for a couple of years and then discontinued, and no replacement parts available anymore. How do you tell a customer that their 6 year old furnace is obsolete and will have to be replaced??

Great pic Rava! I love the ocean views!

Anyone seen techie around, or know why he disappeared off the face of the boards? Might have to send a posse out after him!

Good morning! Ginger, we are on the Gulf side. QW hope you get your problem fixed and Dill you sound like the old saying “when it rains it pours”. Hopefully things will get back to normal for you. Hope everyone has a great day today. Another 24 for me please and thank you.

Awwww, Rava! I love the gulf. Well, until you get close to Texas then the beaches show oil from all the off shore drilling. We walked barefoot on a Texas beach "once" and when we got home, our feet were black with oil. You couldn't see it in the sand or I'd never have taken off my flip flops. Yuck! I'm an oil consumer so I shouldn't complain, I guess, but I am. Lol ;~)

Being home this winter has reminded us why we go south! Good Lord willing and the creek don't rise, we'll head back this November!

I finished a 1,000 piece puzzle in 4.5 hours. Wish I could make money doing them! These winters are a bit too sedentary for this old gal!

Hope everyone has a relaxing weekend! 24 more!

Another 24 hours please & thank you.

Dill, it’s been a while since I had a day where everything I touched turned to poop. Actually I’m overdue. As frustrating as these challenges are, at least you’re not drinking. And buying a lottery ticket would likely be a waste of money as I know from experience.

Thanks for the tip about disconnecting the air intake for the hot water tank Cowboy. I’m going to give it a try since the forecasters can’t seem to get the weather right and every day the promised warm up is put back a day or so.

Thanks for the inquiries about Mrs QW. Everyday brings challenges and she works around many of them. If her hands aren’t working, she doesn’t/can’t do things like kneading dough so she doesn’t bake that day. It’s frustrating for her. The other night at supper I had to cut her roast beef for her and she had to hold the fork in her left hand.

We’re still searching for a realtor. There is one in our daughter in law’s family but I don’t like using the services of someone I know. From past experience, I know the nasty twins, Frank & Blunt, will likely have to make an appearance and I don’t want to subject someone I know to that!

Ginger, I know what you mean about escaping winter. I was reminded yesterday that exactly 1 year ago we were in Mexico. Hopefully next winter we can all travel again. Are you expecting the winter storm that’s hitting the west coast this weekend? Friends from Vancouver Island told us the other day that crocuses are in bloom there. We’re about 2 months away from seeing crocuses!

Have a great af Saturday everyone! Stay safe.

It was -5°F when I woke up this morning. Brrr..

Still no word from Mr. V???

Good morning Cafe. Sorry I missed checking in yesterday but I went skiing and had no cell service. It was the first time since mid January’20. There were many COVID-19 issues at our mountain but the need for speed overrode the fear. So, another 24 for me. Have a wonderful day. Blessings x

Thanks for the music link here Techie. As a matter of fact it is a long time personal favorite of mine! Did you ever read his biography? There's a passage in it when he finally hits bottom and falls to his knees in prayer. That song must've been inspired by that moment.
Glad you had a good time skiing!

Things here did improve yesterday somewhat. Mr. D was able to install that battery (after watching a youtube video) and all the problems we were having with the car appear to have been fixed. Today I hope to hear from the tech about my tablet. I'm remaining hopeful for the time being. Thanks for all the good wishes yesterday.

I made some blueberry bread yesterday. Help yourselves to a slice with your coffee this morning cafe friends while we wait for breakfast.....

24 more please and thank you.
