Good morning Cafe. Sounds like everyone is doing well. Cowboy I am working at a thrift store which benefits hospice. Speaking of hospice I tried recommending it to my father and stepmother and they became so mad at me that they had another family member call me and ream me out. I am at a loss over this. I realize that not everyone is hospice ready but to watch someone struggle thru repeated hospital trips and trying to rehab strength on someone that is elderly and so feeble makes me crazy. It’s all about the money for the medical team. I have decided to take a step back from my father’s situation. His wife is blocking me from talking to him anymore. Such a sad thing. It’s heartbreaking actually. Hope everyone has a good day.Last edited by Rava; Yesterday, 06:56 AM.

Quitting and staying quit isn't easy, its learning a whole new way of thinking. It's accepting a new way of life, and not just accepting it, embracing it...
Worry about tomorrow, tomorrow. Just get through today. Tomorrow will look after itself when it becomes today, because today is all we have to think about.
Friendship is not about how many friends you have or who you've known the longest. It's about who walked into your life, said "I'm here for you", and proved it.

Your sister might not make the full 6 weeks Ginger, but I'm betting she's going to try.
That sounds like a tough situation Rava, at least you got to see and talk with your dad the last time you were up north. Your stepmom will probably back off in a while and let you talk with your dad again.Quitting and staying quit isn't easy, its learning a whole new way of thinking. Rava, family dynamics can be tough to deal with sometimes. I think that in your Dad's situation hospice would be the best thing but apparently they don't see it that way. I'm glad that you got to see and talk to your Dad recently, and I hope that he comes to realize that hospice would make his life easier.
24 more please...

Good morning Cafe. Thanks for the words of support. I realize that I can not do anything to help or give my advice. They don’t want it. The thing that hurts me so much is that my father is such a weak man. He cannot even speak for himself anymore. Instead of telling he is not interested in hospice services he agrees with what I say and then cries to his wife that I say he is dying. Then I get in trouble. Family dynamics suck. I should be happy I am in Florida and away from this. I plan on calling him next week if I haven’t heard from him and just talk about the weather. No more talk about his health. This is all provided that his wife even lets me talk to him. Jesus. Not a good way to spend the last days with a parent. Enough of this. I have been losing sleep over this and need to divert this energy to something positive. This will not break me or cause me to drink. I am hurt and angry but not going down a rabbit hole just to hurt myself more. 24 more please and thank you.

I think you've got the right attitude Rava, do what you can and try not to let the rest bother you.
Not much new here, we had quite the wind yesterday but not much snow with it so I'm going to head out and check things at the farm. Make sure no trees blew over and check the heat in the buildings as we're going into a deep freeze for a few days starting tonight.Quitting and staying quit isn't easy, its learning a whole new way of thinking. Rava, I'm so sorry you are going through so much turmoil. I agree with Cowboy that you have the right attitude, and you must distance yourself from the parts of this situation that are not in your control as best you can. I will say a prayer for you and your dad.
Cowboy, you asked me the other day how Lily looks post-surgery. I honestly haven't seen her teeth yet. She has kept her mouth closed since the surgery except for when she is eating and then her face is in her dish so I really haven't gotten a good look. I'm sure that when the warmer weather returns and she has her tongue out, panting, that's when I'll see it. I does make me a bit sad that she will have a funny smile from now on, but it was necessary for her health and comfort. The broken tooth had jagged edges that her tongue would get caught on and cut when she was running and panting full bore. The bleeding tongue was what drew our attention and the reason we found the badly broken tooth.
Ginger, I'm glad your sister is settling in. Perhaps she make it to 6 weeks. Either way, carp diem!
24 more for all of us here, please and thank you.
Dill
Dont forget, you can: start late, start over, be unsure, try and fail AND STILL SUCCEED!
If it is important to you, you will find a way. If not, you will find an excuse.
