Good morning folks. I have had mice in the house, but the cats keep us rodent free. The problem is that they don't kill the mice, they bring them to the bathtub and play with them. I have to catch the little critters then set them outside.

I'm in for another 24 hours of peace...

Ha! That must confuse your cats when you do that, Jude! LOL I wonder what they think in their little cat minds....

On my way to work this morning. The drive is patchy ice and fog so I must give myself extra time.

24 more please and thank you.

Mul, your pic made me a little homesick for the mountains.

I'll take another day of freedom!

What a stunning “private” hiking area you have found, Mulberry. And so close by!

Rava, any chance your neighbors found their cat?

              Jude, that’s a true cat-and-mouse game!

Dill, yes; icy & slippery out here in the Midwest USA. I slipped a few times out there, but thankfully didn’t fall.
Had my brain training appointment, and also blood work done to check thyroid function. Then drove out to the small town that has a cobbler, to pick up my shoes. (I need a 1/2” extra sole thickness on the left to make up for the extra leg length difference on the right from the knee replacement revision.) I like driving out in the country, so it was nice.

Hi to all as we go for another 24 hours!

I have to bring one of my cats to the vets today to recheck some bloodwork, but other than that my day is open. I'm starting to get the winter blahs which is typical for me this time of year. I have noticed that the days are getting longer, which gives me hope that Spring is not too far away.

                24 more please...

I'm feeling the winter blahs too, Jude. It's funny you brought it up. I was thinking yesterday that we are probably halfway through the winter. And the light seems to be changing and seems springlike at times. It won't be long now!

24 more for all of us please and thank you.

Good morning Cafe. Sorry some of you are having the winter blues. I totally get it and used to have this every year. I ended up using a bright light for Seasonal Affective Disorder. I think it helped some. Slo, sadly the cat is still missing. It’s so sad as these people keep walking around calling her name. They are heartbroken. There are panthers, cougars, bears and so much wildlife here, I think that cat may not be alive. They have set some traps around the neighborhood and will probably catch a raccoon or two. Hope everyone has a Good Friday. 24 more please and thank you.

I love a country drive as well Slo, and I think I might just do that today.

I'm also pretty much done with winter Jude and dill, spring can't come soon enough for me!

Waves to Ginger, Rava and Mulburry, have a fantastic Friday everyone!

Rava, I'm so sorry about your neighbor's cat. Pet Rescue recommends putting their litter box out on the porch. They will come to it if they are able. Our neighbor had there cat escape. She was missing for over a week and when he finally put the litter box out, she came home. She was hiding some place scared to death, I'm sure. Sending kitty prayers for it to return!

Waves to all my pals. Hope we all have an easy day! I'll take another

That’s a helpful tip that I wouldn’t have known for getting a lost cat home, Ginger.

I drove up to my daughter’s house an hour away to spend the day with her and the three little grandchildren -this was planned -but couldn’t get ahold of her at all by phone; and she wasn’t home when I would stop (preschool runs), so then would go shopping and try again. Didn’t know if she went away for the day or something, so I finally just went home.
I’m disappointed & frustrated. It’s her birthday weekend too, so I just left a present on the porch. This has happened a couple other times when I try to visit, where I send my ETA but she doesn’t respond, and isn’t home when I get there. She says she doesn’t keep her phone on her, and that’s just the way it is. Her 3 y/o had her phone all morning. I need to re-think visiting people who don’t care enough to keep in touch enough so that we can make our connection. It shouldn’t be this hard in 2025.

My sister is another one. I have called her each day for the last three days, and she doesn’t bother to call or text back.
In January she did this too, so I ended up getting access into her apartment, knocking on her door; no answer, so getting the apartment manager’s # from someone; getting someone to come over and unlock her door; only to find her sleeping in her bed.
So she’s another one where I will have to negotiate with her if she even wants me to call her ever, or if I should just wait for her to call me.

Finally we are getting more daylight each day.

It’s an alcohol-free day for me, although one that has involved too many Reese’s Peanut Butter cups. Oh well.
Once a pickle, never a cucumber again.

Rava, hope that your neighbors cat returns home safely. I would be a wreck if any of my cats came up missing, that's why they stay indoors.

It is nice that the daylight is increasing. It definitely makes a difference in my mood.

Slo, my sister sounds like yours as she takes forever (if at all) to respond to texts and emails. Everybody gives her a hard time about it, but she will never change.

I'm in for another 24 hours of freedom.
