Good morning Cafe. The dental extraction was done by my regular dentist but once complications started he sent me to an oral surgeon. He has packed the tooth with aneseptic gauze and removed it 3 times. It appears to be healing and I slept all night without the packing. Apparently the hole is small enough that the packing is no longer needed as the wound has to heal from the inside out. So all is much much better. Thanks for all your positive support. I don’t know if anyone likes corned beef and cabbage but I made some in the crock pot yesterday and it was delicious. I will give the recipe in case anyone is interested. Put potatoes, carrots on bottom of crock pot, then corned beef fat side up. Put cut cabbage all around. Cook in 4 cups of apple juice, 1 tablespoon ground mustard, 1/2 cup brown sugar. Cook on low 8-10 hours. So so good and sweet. Hope everyone has a great and sober day. 24 more please and thank you!

Good morning cafe! Rava, I'm glad that you are feeling better, dental pain is the worst. Cowboy, hope that your transition to dentures goes smoothly with minimal pain.
Not sure what's on the agenda this morning, but this afternoon we are going to visit my niece and her family. We aren't leaving for Florida until Wednesday morning and I can't wait.
Looking forward to another 24 hours of peace...

I missed yesterday due to the intense Tony Robbin’s online seminar. It is ok, and I am getting some food for thought out of it. It is intense and long though. I can’t believe busy people willingly pay a lot as well as set aside 4 full, long days of their life for this rah-rah stuff. I was given a ticket for free.
So much snow & cold still for you, Cowboy!
I always made a similar crock pot corned beef recipe for my family when I had one, Rava. My mother always made corned beef & cabbage for us for St. Patrick’s Day when I was growing up.
It is absolutely delicious! Thank you for sharing your recipe.
A large tree like yours, Dill, fell down in my old yard / ex-HB’s yard last year. My son-in-law made a lot of firewood out of it!Once a pickle, never a cucumber again.

Rava, that sounds like a great recipe! I wish there was a non meat alternative! I'm so glad you are continuing to improve. More over, you didn't drink over it. Good on you
ABC, good luck with your teeth. Will they put the denture in the day of extraction? That's how it's usually done here.
Dill, glad your tree adventure went well. I'm glad you'll be able to use the wood.
Jude, rest up and have fun! Hi, Slo. I'll take another day

Rava, thank you for the corned beef and cabbage recipe. I have done a corned beef but your recipe sounds like one I will like. I'll let you know if I make it. I do like corned beef and one of my favorite sandwiches is the Reuben.
Greetings Cowboy, Jude, Ginger, Slo and Mulburry!
Raining and windy today. Looks like the early blooming daffodils will be having a rough day.
24 more for all of us here, please and thank you.Last edited by dill; March 15, 2025, 05:22 AM.Dill

Quitting and staying quit isn't easy, its learning a whole new way of thinking. It's accepting a new way of life, and not just accepting it, embracing it...

I'm not a big corned beef lover Rava, but I definitely love cabbage in any form.
I'm not sure what to expect Tuesday Ginger as this is my first time seeing this dentist. I presume it will be more of a check-up and consultation, x-rays, etc but who knows. From what I've heard they like to put the dentures in right away here as well so that might be something else done on Tuesday, impressions for the dentures.
Big wave to the rest of the gang, let's all have a fantastic Saturday.Quitting and staying quit isn't easy, its learning a whole new way of thinking. It's accepting a new way of life, and not just accepting it, embracing it...

Good morning Cafe. Jude, I hope you have a good visit with your niece and her family. The weather in Florida has been super good this week! I bet you are enjoying it! Cowboy, I am sure you will not be having all the work done on the initial visit. You will be glad to get it all behind you I am sure! Slo sounds like you have been quite involved in the seminar. Good luck and maybe you could share with us any highlights! Dill, the corned beef and cabbage recipe is so good and the apple juice and brown sugar bring some good sweetness to it. Mr. R doesnt really like cabbage but loves it in this particular recipe. Hi to Ginger and Mul. Wishing everyone a wonderful Saturday. 24 more please and thank you.

Are you in the Pacific Northwest now, Jude?
Sorry, but I can’t get into this Tony Robbins stuff. I’m just not a groupie; never have been.
Well, having my brother teach me (refresh me) on euchre has paid off! He has invited me out for corned beef & cabbage dinner tomorrow! Mostly, I like that he trusts me enough as a family member to reach back out (having been burned by family, like the way Mother treated him, leaves one not trusting and isolating).
I just found out that my next door neighbor is alcoholic and is in detox now for a week, and then is going to rehab for four weeks. Per her daughter, she found out this summer that she has cirrhosis. Thus, the determination to quit. Well, that explains why I notice that she has a slight tremor.
And so on that note, I will stay AF for the next 24 hours!Once a pickle, never a cucumber again.

I just realized I haven't been on here for a bit, sometimes I'm busy during the Witching Hour (watching lot's of hockey, haha) but sometimes I just forget. Anyways, all is reasonably well here, back in Vancouver spending some time with my brother.
It's -16C (3F) here this morning and I'll be headed out to shovel the last of the snow we got yesterday. I was out twice yesterday and will finish it up this morning, about 10" all told I think. I'm definitely getting my exercise in lol.

Good to see you Mulburry, and glad to know things are humming along for you. Spring does come in fits and starts, that's for sure. We have been having a sweet stretch of some very nice, warm weather, but tonight we have to bring in our hibiscus because we are due for a freeze. At least we won't be shoveling, like Cowboy!
Slo, that's really great news about your brother's invite. Enjoy! And thank you for sharing the cautionary tale of your neighbor. It could so easily have been any one of us.
Greetings Ginger, Jude, Cowboy and Rava.
24 for all of us here, please and thank you.
