Good luck with your continued road trip, Ginger! You have a lot of driving ahead today.
Jude, yeah, it’s definitely Spring Break time in Florida. I’d be too afraid to invest in Florida, for a number of reasons (rising cost of home insurance, fear of more weather events, etc.)
Sounds like a lot of your teeth are needing treatment, Cowboy.
I hope we have seen the last of the snow here! It’s a beautiful day today finally.
Kindling causes a progression in the addiction. And it is a progressive condition. But we’re done with that now!
I spent the afternoon with my daughter and 2 y/o grandson yesterday, so filled my cup some. My sister is coming over this afternoon/evening. That will fill my cup too!Once a pickle, never a cucumber again.

I ended up kindling too, Mul, as I struggled to quit over a period of 6-7 years. The kindling that made everything so much worse makes me wish that I could’ve / would’ve kept my first quit in 2012.

Good morning cafe!
Safe travels Ginger!
I thought that I was getting better, but whatever this is has come back with a vengeance. Looks like it might be time for a visit to the nearest urgent care. Not how I wanted to spend my vacation, but what are you going to do.
Rava, I see what you mean about booze being everywhere in Florida. I'm not used to seeing wine and liquor at the grocery store, and for a moment I had the most insane urge to grab a bottle. Uggh...
24 more for all of us please...

Quitting and staying quit isn't easy, its learning a whole new way of thinking. It's accepting a new way of life, and not just accepting it, embracing it...
Worry about tomorrow, tomorrow. Just get through today. Tomorrow will look after itself when it becomes today, because today is all we have to think about.

I was a heavy drinker for most of my life Mulburry though it didn't start with drinking everyday. But I always drank too excess when I drank. I would say I was a problem drinker for a good 20 years, and all day drinking for a couple of years before I quit. Not a past to be proud of for sure.
Geez, what a way to spoil your holiday Jude, hopefully they can give you something to help you.
Have a safe rest of the trip Ginger, hope it's clear sailing for you.
The teeth that needed repair are all fixed now Slo, once the partial dentures are made it will be to pull the rest of the bad teeth, I'm not looking forward to that lol. Sounds like you're kept pretty busy visiting family, enjoy the time!
It's definitely snowing out but not too bad. I'll head out for Two Hills a bit early and if the roads or visibility is bad I'll just turn around. Hopefully I'll find it okay to drive.Quitting and staying quit isn't easy, its learning a whole new way of thinking. It's accepting a new way of life, and not just accepting it, embracing it...

Good morning Cafe. Jude I hope your sister is feeling better today. Where you are at in Florida is coming along but still has a long way to go. The cost of homeowners insurance has tripled and the market is dropping for homes due to this and repeated hurricanes. Of course we bought here at the height of the market so we will never get back what we paid for. It’s just bad luck on our part. We do love the warmer weather tho. So it’s a trade off. Mul, You quoted me as saying I drank from morning till night. I think that was cowboy. I only drank at night. Not that that makes a big difference. Drinking and getting plastered is all the same unhealthy behavior. Ginger, I hope you are home now after 2 long travel days. Hi to everyone here. Wishing everyone a safe and sober 24 hours.

It looks like we have a lot of rain in the forecast here. Must be Spring.
Yes, I am trying to see family in order to assuage loneliness. I haven’t adapted well to living alone. It was comforting to have time with my sister yesterday.
It is still worth it for you, it seems, Rava, to have your time in the warm weather in Florida. I feel ya though, as I got a raw deal on this condo and spent way too much on it; so if I sell, I won’t get the money back out of it either.
I was hoping you’d just have a 24-hour bug, Jude! My daughter D2 is struggling with an illness that she thinks has morphed into a sinus infection.
I live in an area that has alcohol sales everywhere. All the grocery stores, drug stores, big box stores, and gas stations are full of it. Luckily it doesn’t bother me anymore.
Cowboy, you seem a quality person who has many other things to be proud of in your past and present.
24 more hours for me, please!
Once a pickle, never a cucumber again.

Late check in for me and I'm really tired. I had a terrible night's sleep for no particular reason, and I had to get up and be at the hospital by 7:00.
Jude, I hope you get to feeling better soon. Urgent care is probably a good idea.
24 more for all of us please and thank you.
Dill

abcowboy I saw that about AB/SK getting snow, crazy! We've had some pretty brutal weather lately, atmospheric river last sun/mon, and torrential thunderstroms last night.......... but we've also had a couple really nice days, with warmish temps (15C ish) and sun, and boy is it lovely getting out in that sunshine, starting to feel like spring when the sun comes out (especially with so many flowers and blossoms blooming now). I can't wait to finally get real nice stretch of good weather though, haven't had a proper stretch in ages it seems.

We went to urgent care yesterday, thankfully covid and flu tests were negative. Looks like it's a nasty, viral upper respiratory infection.
I have COPD from years of smoking in the past so I have to be really careful about my lungs. Apparently the viral infection has progressed to a bacterial infection in my lungs, so I'm on a boatload of antibiotics and steroids. I'm feeling a little more alive today and hopefully that will keep improving.
Ginger, safe travels if your not home already. How long of a drive is it?
Looking forward to another 24 hours of freedom.

So glad you and your sister got treatment and you are starting to feel better, Jude. Now you will be able to enjoy that Florida sunshine!
Mul, that's good advice about getting seen by and ENT asap. We tend to wait too long to get ourselves to the doctor and it causes needless suffering.
Rava, sometimes things just don't go the way we'd like. The cost of real estate is one of those things. You did what you had to do in order to live out your dreams.
Slo, alcohol is sold just about everywhere around here, too. But lucky for me I live in a 'dry' town. No al sales allowed in this little village. It' disappoints a lot of people, but for me, it's just fine!
Ginger how you travels are going smoothly.
Cowboy, I always drank to excess when I drank too.
24 more for all of us here, please and thank you.

Good morning Cafe. Dill I hope you make it through the day. Nothing worse than not being able to sleep. Jude, glad you and sis went to urgent care. What a crappy way to spend your vacation. Slo, I do like the warmer weather in the winter for us but also looking forward to spending the summer with the grands. This sounds weird to say but retirement for me is hard. It’s boring at times and sometimes I wish I had a schedule of some sort. I went from 100 miles per hour to basically 0. It’s a hard adjustment. Alcohol at every corner makes my situation a daily challenge. I thought by now it would be easier but some days are really hard. I have slipped a few times but immediately got back up, dusted myself off and got back in the game. I don’t want a few slips to start breaking me down. Getting older has its challenges for sure. Got my teeth finally placed yesterday so the mouth is good. Hope everyone has a good day. Hi to everyone! 24 more please and thank you.

Glad to hear you and your sister were able to get in and get some medication Jude, sounds like you'll still be able to enjoy some of your vacation.
Sounds like a good day just to relax and refresh dill, have a nap or two if required.
The only place you can but booze in Alberta is from a liquor store Slo, but there's lots of them in every town. I'm glad that I never walk through those doors though.
I'm glad that I'm still doing a bit of work Rava, it makes my retirement easier to handle. I'm sure I'll start volunteering in a few places once I retire completely in a couple of years.
Hope you made it home safe and sound Ginger!
We did get a pile of snow Mulburry, and it's still snowing a bit this morning.
My trip out to the dentist's yesterday morning wasn't too bad, but coming back home was another story, 4 wheel drive most of the way. I think we got 8 - 10" yesterday and supposed to continue snowing until this afternoon. Hopefully this will be the last big snowfall of the year.Quitting and staying quit isn't easy, its learning a whole new way of thinking.
